I just wanted to say that after over a year of not playing in ALFA it was really great to get back on the ALFA servers. I hadnt played a lot with the new game and I managed to get a copy of NWN2 gold for my cafe I run.

Needless to say Im not real thrilled with that SecurRom crap thats on the game, but I can manage. Its a long story, but needless to say we dont have drives on our computers so customers can upload or download things or even able to use flash drives. Big security risk. I had to actually pop the case on the computer im usually at and put an external drive hook up to the game just to show a disk was in the drive for me to play. I legally bought the game, its not being used on any other computer in my shop, but I still cant play it unless I do the above fix. Hopefully, the change this in the future with a crack or this new CD online registration key thing that their talking about that will allow us to not use a drive.

I managed to get on the server last night and rolled up a toon (not saying who) and messed around for a bit. Did a few quests and met some folks in game and had a ton of fun. I am super rusty when roleplaying i can tell you that ;)

One thing I seriously cannot stand about the game is the camera. I need to tinker with it more, because a lot of times last night I couldnt see when I was walking through some tight paths etc. If I had been alone Id have probably been dead. I just need to get use to the camera and fix it so I can manage it. Im also not a real fan of the controls of walking, but again I just need to get use to it.

The server itself from what I saw looked top notch. I really cant wait to get a good look at things, but as we all know its not smart to go wandering off by yourself so I dont plan on dying anytime soon.

Anyway, Im glad to be back in ALFA and glad to be playing again. Hope to meet your toons in game and we all have a wonderful time.

Lots of experienced folks here can help if you have any questions about how to use the player interface. Don't wander too far without having a local guide (who you trust). :)

A few quick tips:

Switching camera modes (Character/Strategy) using the Numpad * key usually gets me out of the tight spots, and is nearly required for combat.

Avoid using WASD movement controls wherever possible as it adds CPU cycles to the server = lag-inducing. There are places where it's best to use though, mainly right after ATing through a door.

Remember that (at least until they patch it) many settings (chat mode, tracking, darkvision, etc., etc.) are lost each time you AT.

Play lots and have fun - the best way to get used to the new controls. The fun part is required.

Oh, and Welcome Aboard.

How do you get the camera to not go behind walls and entire buildings?

I either zoom in tight (over-the-shoulder) or switch to Strategy mode and look down. There are some opacity settings in the options you can try, but they never look right to me. YMMV

That reminds me of a question I had.

Is there any way to get the camera to move below the horizon line? Because sometimes I want to look UP at things and I just can't and it's annoying.

I must still be used to the omnidirectional camera function setup in WoW.

Does this mean I can make a Tiamet Temple ???? (I can, you know :))

Tiamat isnt canon at all in this area. Besides, too many goody two shoes running around. Id have to go all smack a bitch on some of them real quick ;)

Id love to do something like this in the future but I think it would work better around BG or WHL. You should play sometime Rick.. Im sure the Dark Lady would gladly take you into the fold...or else.

Welcome back. BTW, a bit of player-led evil could go a long way, IMHO of course. ;)

Its from a G4 tv skit on cable. Olivia Munn and Morgan Webb were doing a spoof of the bionic woman. The whole bionic woman show on NBC had major lesbian undertones. They are just making fun of the show but geeks all over the internet are having woodies from that skit
