A couple of Questions from a new player..

Post by Artemis Knight »

So I've been playing for about a week now, at some VERY odd hours. I Bartend so my schedual is really scattered. But I'm digressing.

Can anyone tell me....

Is there an Inn in Silverymoon??

Is there a place to buy a black cloak or scrolls for my mage? I forgot to pick up a cloak from the starting merchant and I haven't been able to find any shop that sells the black cloak nor scribable scrolls. I've found parchment and papper but nothing I can scribe a scroll onto.

Any static quests for a low level character, anywhere? I did manage to take out the runt kobold by my self, but none of the others seem particulary survivable....

Thanks much, and good gaming!

You may want to try looking some place a lot of mages tend to congregate. Perhaps a sticky on this forum may be of use.

In theory the Rivermoot statics are supposed to be suitable for beginning PCs. However, these quests can be rather dangerous, and the rewards have been reduced twice since the end of beta. There has been plenty of discussion about whether they are now too difficult, but that's a separate matter entirely. Rick and Indio have been working to add more statics in, so try not to get discouraged by some of the forum doom and gloom.

In short, your best bet for both long term survivability and increased enjoyment are to find other PCs to party with. That can be difficult for infrequent players, so I'd suggest posting your play times and/or browsing the DM threads looking for one that fits your schedule.

Well as to the checking the place where a lot of mages hang out... I.E. the college, I have..(searched through the forums before I posted this and I belive I have read the thread you're refering to).. I can't find whoever is supposed to be selling scrolls and such. So if you could point me to the person that actually has dialoge in the college besides the Treant, I would be most appreciative.

As for the staics info, much thanks.

I'm still left with the schedualing issues as mine varies greatly, but oh well.

Actually one of the things that kind of bothers me about TSM (and please take this with a grain of salt this is the best server I've played on as far as players, detailed maps and landscapes and DM interaction) is that you can't seem to get wizard scrolls outside of joining the Academy.

There are stores in high hold and Rivermoot that seem like they might sell scrolls, but so far you just get the 'sorry we are closed' from the merchant who tends them.

Anyway, for the moment at least its the academy in silverymoon or bust.

Hopefully we'd have a scroll merchant in eventually. I can understand the obvious frustration.

Right now you'd need to speak with a DM to hook you up. Soon the trade scroll system will be back in, so you can just request scrolls from other players.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Well thanks for the info guys.

But at the moment I think I'll be taking a break from the ALFA servers. The work that has been done on them is AMAZING! But there just needs to be more Static content for low level characters in my opinion. Yes the quests may be easier when you have a party going, but when there's only 5 people on the server it's REALLY hard to get that group to work, 'specially when they're scattered from Rivermoot to Silverymoon.

In other words, great work guys, just keep it up...
