No statics for solos, and a rant

Why can't we have enough non-combat staitcs and group combat statics to get us to level 2 or 3 while there is no DM coverage. I haven't seen a DM at all since I started playing, so I can only hope for statics to get any exp at low level, and then hope for a group to play with.

For what its worth, since Vellya's duty calls for her to be at Rivermoot all the time anyway, she has taken up helping new sell-swords stay alive in the hills long enough to learn how to survive on their own. Meaning, if you have a mission and no one else to do it with, feel free to ask Vellya. I know you did Lancaster, so this is not aimed at you - you took advantage of the folks that were around when I was on - but to other folks who are thinking of soloing - generally, if am I around guarding the bridge, feel free to ask for some help if you cannot get a group together. Vellya is really tired of learning people's names only to pull their bodies out of the hills a day later.
Now .. if she ever actually found a body that hadn't been stripped .. this might be a lucrative business .. but since that almost never happens, alas, I guess I should work to save lives.

What Mikayla said. I would find a group and a good group that is aligned with interests of your character can help fuel your character's personal goals and encurage roleplaying among players. Its guinuinely perceived that soloing usually does get you killed. So, uhm, do it if you want.
Don't worry about statics. They're not our concerns as players.

Anyone looking to party up to complete statics please don't hesitate to approach my PC as well.
In terms of the related issue of DM coverage, I too have noticed very little DM coverage/activity during my usual playtimes. Are there any plans to increase DM coverage in the near future? Although there is some nice player to player RP going on, even some minor spice events would serve to greatly improve immersion IMHO. This is not a gripe, I am just wondering whether or if there are plans to increase DM coverage in the future.

As I said before, I suspect that once we get a second server up we'll get more DM coverage, since people will be able to both play and DM. In the meantime, don't be afraid to ask IC and even OOC in tells for assistance getting over the low level hump. If someone acts snooty towards you, just cross that person off your list and go down to the next one. ALFA has plenty of people who like to play.

I'm not usually around the populated areas such as Silverymoon, High Hold, or Rivermoot, but if I am around feel free to ask for any help you need.

When did you say that?

I just started playing yesterday and I have to say I had more fun rping than I have had in a long time. I did not touch a static... nor see one DM around.
I do believe there is need for statics in general and I believe there is also need for DM attention.. but that isnt what alfa is about. We are a high roleplaying server... So honestly it should not matter what level you are get rping.
So as others have said... get out talk meet people... Even your most shyest character can make a friend. Your most evil character can trick people to hang around them. It can be done with a little imagination and some good rp skills.
I remember in Alfa 1 we would sit around in a travern for hours rping with eachother, sometimes it was our best rp and not one DM was around. Back then many times there was little reward if none given. Now you have the reward because of a script... make use of it.
Just some thoughts from little ole me

That was said serveral days ago in a thread dealing with something related to this one. Can't exactly remember which, but it applies just as well here as it did there.

That was probably just cause Vaya was there with you.

Agreed. It was a big deal when those scripts were added, i hope the scripts dont become unappreciated.
Of corse we all love DM times, but i tend to take those as something extra nice rather than something im waiting for to cure my boredom.

For perspective:
Level 2 in 2 1/2 weeks.
4 static quests completed, non of which were solo'd.
1 Dm interaction totalling 45 xp.
The rest...rp/xp awards.
I am completely content with the above. I don't particularly care to do statics for statics sake, but if I am around others who are going to do one, and My PC is needed/wanted, I partake.
My PC isn't aligned with a specific group on the server, so the low dm interaction is completely understandable, especially since I haven't even sent a bio in yet. No complaints in that realm.
About 1/3-1/2 xp came from rp/xp, which I think should be the bulk of xp, either through scripts or DM.
And lastly, 2 weeks to level two may be a lot slower than some on the server, for me that period of time from one until two is about right...2 weeks may even be too fast compared to what I am used to. A slow transition from 1 to 2 gives you time to really get into your PC and hash out the feel of the PC as well as the background before major changes in your PC due to leveling take place.

Skullport's up and ready for testing. If we all jump on and help it will make for a quick beta.

Last I checked, the link for the PWC was broken.
Same problem with the Western Heartlands beta - I can't find the PWC anywhere.
