Anyways, could you give me a heads up or put an edit here telling me that it's done (i'll want to re-create the character using the same name)

Technical reminder NOT to use the same name twice. There's database issues unrelated to the vault itself which mean bad mojo of some sort when duplication happens. Someone, somewhere, went into greater technical detail on this point (possibly AL), but it's inadequately publicized IMHO.

So what does one do when the DM warrants a PC remake? Can you use the same name but add in something to make it different, such as an initial middle name or a space?

We've been having the players make a slight alteration to their name.

While the database / names issue gets explored a bit in this thread, I do not think any exact "best practice" got resolved, other than "to clarify, the DM training part would be "Never rename PCs ingame" and "if someone is doing a rebuild, they must choose a new name."

Sorry to pollute a vault cleanup thread, but it's only if people are considering starting new PCs with the same names as former PCs (like due to the cut & paste description issue), this topic could be important.

I noobed it up and rerolled a character with the same name twice.

...wasn't aware of the tech problems it creates.

Please delete any characters in Lazlo_ALFA or Lazlo-ALFA, thanks.

You can delete all of my characters at the moment. I'm going to take a day or two to come up with my next one now.
