Just checking in briefly, I'm guessing the Silverymoon outskirt areas don't have PWC info in the player download pack- I generated it while doing a lot of deletion and re-addition of areas, so was bound to miss some out.
The PWC was more than a gigabyte before I did some trimming, the current one is at 480 M or so, the difference being some of the connecting exteriors.
I won't be able to rearrange things until I get back from my trip monday AM.
I'd recommend rolling another PC to explore the rivermoot/high hold area, in Beta you can switch freely between characters.

"error loading the module" as of this am
I cannot get worldgate to run based on the directions in the other thread.
A couple of questions:
are there files that I need beyond what I already have for OAS2?
is there a place where each file that is needed is listed by file name?

I'm seeing 3 ALFA servers on Gamespy: the OAS2 server, which seems to be running fine; "ALFA 003 Test Server"; and "ALFA 03 Silver Marches Beta".
Silver Marches Beta has been showing a high ping, from the 600s up to the teens.
Character creation seemed okay, but the module wouldn't load.
003 Test Server works okay, although leaving Silverymoon gives the "Error loading module" failure. Creating a new PC to enter Rivermoot worked.
Worldgate works fine for me. Did you type "www.alandfaraway.org/worldgate" into the worldgate host field during setup, or did you copy/paste? I have seen some reports that copy/paste doesn't work here...
And, yes, besides what you need for OAS2, you need the full ALFA NWN2 hak array (8 files?) plus the PWC file for 003. Worldgate takes care of all that for me, pretty painlessly.

For clarification, there are two hosted versions at the moment, due to Indio being a dynamo of productivity. He'll have to weigh in on his setup for PWC.
The one hosted from my rig is the "ALFA 003 Test Server", which has a PWC that downloads with the main ALFA worldgate configuration (alongside the OAS2 one).
The URL for that one is: "www.alandfaraway.org" (leave the /worldgate off if you're having problems). Seems like the silverymoon surroundings are missing from the PWC, mistake on my part there, won't be in a position to fix it till monday since I'm out of town.
If you can get the PWC for it, I recommend checking out the version Indio is hosting, as player feedback on the travel map will be important in deciding how deeply we should invest in developing it as an ALFA-wide system. The ping will be higher for some of you, since Indio is hosting from Australia, while my host setup is in California.
Apologies for the confusion with the multiple setups, I was eager to get something up sooner than later, and feared the skill corruption problem plus my travel plans would push things back by another week. Happy to have been wrong on that front, though!

Re-posting this a few places:
As there seems to be some confusion, here is a summary of the procedure for getting on the Silver Marches Beta:
Quote:
Your first step should be to start downloading ALFA's world-specific files so you can join and test our first Beta server, 003: The Silver Marches. We've configured a utility to help get players set up to join, so I'll give you the brief rundown on it.
First, download the Worldgate Client, and install it. This is a utility that allows you to connect to our fileserver and check to see if all your server files are up to date- if not, it downloads just the changed bits to keep you from having to repeatedly download large PWC and HAK files when only a tiny fraction of the data is changed. Worldgate is a utility used by many NWN1 and NWN2-based online worlds. The client is available here:
http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/Download.php?id=108865
Once you've installed the client, run it. Once the window is open, select "New". It will show a configuration screen- to make things (much) simpler, just click the "from URL" button in the lower left hand corner. In the box for a URL, pass "www.alandfaraway.org" - the client should be able to pick up all the configuration info from our website. Once Worldgate is started checking and downloading files, it will take quite a while, at least the first time. Most subsequent updates will be much smaller.
When Worldgate is finished, you should have 8 "HAK" files, which contain custom content for the game, one "TLK" file, which contains extra text, and two large "PWC" files, which include necessary walkmesh info to join the two currently hosted servers. The client will see them put into the correct places. If worldgate reports any errors while updating, just run it again after it finishes, usually it'll only take a few seconds to clean up any missed resources.
You also need the Mask of the Betrayer expansion for NWN2, and the current patch from obsidian installed, in order to join. The server is listed under PW story in gamespy.
I tried running World Gate and I get this error:
http error: Value of '2' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'minimum' and 'maximum'. Parameter name: Value
do you want to retry this operation?
When I attempt to retry it doesn't work and I get the same error.
Yes I am running version 1.5.1
this occurs right at the 1403mb mark loading helm_99.DDS
This error with world gate is why I downloaded the haks and the PWC in the five separate parts from one of the stickies in this forum.
Then I try to log on to the server and I get the error from my post above.
Like I asked, is there a separate link to that .tlk file or is it only found using the world gate client?
thanks

The haks in the old links are very outdated, and by comparison, a pretty inefficient way to distribute the files. I will see about uploading newer versions for direct download soon, but you are better off trying to get Worldgate working- it's managed fine for almost everyone who has used it thus far.
The resource that is failing is in alfa_items.hak - try deleting this file from your /hak folder completely, then re-running worldgate. Hopefully this should resolve the problem.
[edit: I've uploaded the tlk file you're missing as a RAR here: http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/N ... _acr01.rar - but you're going to need the PWC and other hak files to join the server properly, so I recommend the above method.]

Are you using the Worldgate setup that is configured by "From URL", set to www.alandfaraway.org ? It should be giving you a file called alfa003_tsf.pwc in your /documents/neverwinternights2/pwc folder.
The "Error Loading Module" message almost always means you are missing the PWC (walkmesh) file for the server, or at least have an outdated version of it.

I still get this error when I try to use world gate except now it occurs at the 1309mb mark loading p_hhf_dmcb_body30_n.TGAJaokith wrote:I tried running World Gate and I get this error:

I've deleted hak files, I've re-installed world gate after removing it, gone through all the steps I can think of and still get the above error.
I have no idea what the issue is or why it is only happening to me. I'd like to try an help in the beta effort but... for some reason world gate doesn't want to work for me.
Jaokith, I also get this error, every time, consistently through several upgrades and hak changes, including re-instal of Worldgate twice. I can't fix it either. I'm lucky in that I have a second computer which does not encounter this issue. I can download on it and transfer the Worldgate files to the first computer on a flash drive.
AL/Cipher, do we make available a direct download somewhere for people who aren't as fortunate as me in having two PCs?

The main website, under the "Projects" tab, has a "Downloads" link:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/docs/Technical/Downloads
I try to keep those haks current. So far I haven't linked the PWCs there, though I could do that today, depending. helm_99, or anything else that sounds like an item is probably in alfa_items.hak - so download that one manually, then try Worldgate again.
