You need to grab the letters from the chest next to Davigny and bring it back to the vault like in all the other quests so far.Wild Wombat wrote:I probably did something wrong since I bet this would have been reported long before now, but...
My PC did the Courier quest to Fourth Peak to deliver to Davigny and the head guy in the Vault of Sages does not believe me. I do have a witness: Twin Axes saw me do it.
The reason I am betting it was just me messing up is that I suspect that Davigny told me to pick up a package to take back, but I was in the middle of a conversation with Twin Axe's PC and just speed-read over the dialogue.
So, just mark this down as something to keep an eye out for, I guess.

Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
Seems that if you take the Silverwood patrol quest, you can't do any patrol quests at all, indefinitely.
That quest is still doable.Stormseeker wrote:hmm doing the knights of silverymoon quest line...is there even a logging camp in silvery wood now?

Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
Okay, so I tried to create a PC on TSM to play when I'm not feeling like playing with my primary. I was making a bard, so I put skills in "placeholder" skills instead of perform. But when I arrived at the start, it didn't pop up the automatic "redistribute your skills" option.
So I recreated the PC with a different name and put the skills in perform and it didn't complain at me. It also didn't assign bonus languages and I don't have the DMF1 tool (or whatever it's called).
Feels like something isn't working properly... at least with PC creation.
*edit* I tried to log in to another server with the PC and it kicked off the "character adaption process". So that's definitely missing from TSM for some reason.
*edit2* Logging out and in again seems to work too.

Current PC: I'm not tellin'. They die when I put their names here.

Character creation can be screwy if there is already a pc with that pcs name. A possibility!

Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
Well, this is the second time I've had a random encounter on the overmap where I come out of the load screen and am a round or two into melee combat with enemies. If I weren't a full plate wearing cleric with lots of heal access I would have died both times before really having control over my character.
It would be nice if we could remove the random encounters unless this can be fixed. Also, my guy now has some "disease incubation started" from two "decaying humanoids" that I tried to run from. I made it to the AT before them, but they landed 3-4 hits on me and disease while waiting for scripts to fire. Had I had some space or time to prepare I would have turned undead or went around, ran away without engaging etc.
Anyways, it's a bit unfair to be placed into combat while on a load screen and it has happened with goblins and now disease inducing undead. If it is not too much trouble, if we could disable the scripts temporarily until they are fixed, please?
Also, I have been told that TSM used to have regular maps and no overland map. Any chance of reverting back to those and getting rid of the overland map? What would we lose by rolling back to the version of TSM prior to the OLM being introduced? Most of the players on TSM that I have spoken to dislike the overland map and would prefer the older ones.
Thanks!

Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
That's odd... I've never seen mobs spawn on top of PCs when they're ATing into random encounter maps when I played tsm regularly; I wonder if it has to do with mobs being given slightly improved perception ranges roaming in smallish areas and spotting the PC? They still have worse perception compared to PCs, but if they happen to wander close to the AT area and you're taking a long time to load for whatever reason... *shrug*
Sounds like some testing or looking at scripts might need to be done, possibly making some of the random encounter areas a bit larger and checking where they spawn.

Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
First occurrence was goblins west of Barn AT. I came out of load screen to two archers shooting at me and one in melee engagement already, me at half HP in second round of combat. Second occurrence was outside of crypts with two decaying humanoids at a dead run about 20 feet away. I made a break for the At and they got in four attacks while I was waiting for AT to trigger. If I had had more time to prep I would have buffed, ranged attack, turned, healed, etc. Mostly just panic running though!

Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
The OLM has always been buggy, immersion breaking, disruptive of group RP, and at times deadly due to random encounters as described by Heegz.
Personally I have had at least two PCs fall victim to bugged random encounters. The most common one is the Wendover Crypt area encounter that spawns a ghast or something right on top of your head with little time to back out and flee. Lost 2 PCs to that and am aware of numerous players who have had similar experiences. I also recently had a random encounter that spawned between RK and HH that would have killed my PC instantly if I did not take the extreme measure of a combat log (screen shot and reported to Curm and he confirmed it was a known bug). In this one, my PC was teleported from the referenced section of the OLM all the way to the heart of the Moonwood. The AT close to the PC that is supposed to let you "flee" the encounter if you choose did not work, so it was fight or die. Die was really the only option because what was probably a CR 5 mountain lion spawns, literally, right on top of your head attacking with multiple claw attacks. I know of at least one other player (Dergon) who has had the pleasure of that one. I think what Heegz describes is the result of the AI trying to kill your PC before your PC is fully loaded into the area. I used to experience this as well before I upgraded my graphics card.
Group play on the OLM is also horrendous. If you are traveling in a group of more than 3 your PC's regularly get "hung up" and unable to move due to crowding. If one PC in a group is not on the map it also prevents you from proceeding requiring all kinds of immersion breaking OOC dropping party, repartying etc to counter. There is also the fact that only the party leader is visible (except for the floating VFX backpacks etc) which breaks immersion for me big time). Oh and if a bard with bardsong active enters the OLM it crashes the entire party and boots them off the server.
Anyway, the OLM was a necessary evil at one time. IMO it no longer serves any useful purpose other than to be an immersion breaking headache to DMs and players. I am willing to volunteer my time to do the work to eliminate it. If others feel likewise, post here and lets get with Curm and make it happen.

Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
Depending on what is required, I could potentially help. I am not sure what would be lost, but I think a quick solution would be to revert back to a version prior to the OLM. Then, we could add in portions from the current version piecemeal as we have the time. We might want to take the OLM discussion to a dedicated thread and leave this one for bugs only. I'll try to catch Curm on IRC before doing so.oldgrayrogue wrote:I am willing to volunteer my time to do the work to eliminate it. Re: REPORT BUGS HERE
Agreeing with HEEGZ and OGR on spawns attackinfg at AT sights on TSM..have lost three chars to it in the 5years or so I've played alfa..and nearly lost several others..Wendover Crypts has always been an almost instant attack when The Random encounter there pops.

Curm isn't known for getting new stuff in for TSM, don't count on it.
