You held out a lot longer and did a much better job than I did. Kudos, and thanks.

Like that's hard to do...... :P

Thanks Cloud, for the big work you did with so many players. Keeping a server alive during a lull isn't easy, you did it well.

To be more elaborate, I cut corners and I took advantage of the HDM being busy with RL concerns. He gave me very strict guidelines for me personally as a DM to function on that other DMs did not have to follow. Left alone for most of the summer, w/o server updates, uploads, or support, I had to make things up to keep the player bases needs met.

As per Dming, I had much excitement going in. Three things killed it.

1) Early on a player had an issue with me that should have been worked out with an AR. Instead I was humilated and my offer to provide evidence the player was not telling the truth was ignored over some randomly taken screen shots of text out of context. Then I was made to accept dicipline as well as given the impression I had recieved a strike on my DM record. Turned out, nothing of the sort had ever been done offically.

This continued when a DM brought up an issue with me two months after four sessions with them. I was encouraged to "take one for the team" and be punished by my AR even though the DM refused to provide evidence or any of their sources for their problems with me. I instead left the campaign. The experience was so demoralizing it pretty much made me so upset I racked up Trapper.

2)My content, made from player generated events and in huge collaborations with builders, like the new Orphanage and new Quearvarr, as well as a reskin and expansion of Auvendell AND mainly the new Elf content, was delayed for two and half months. I ended up stalling the faction event for months waiting for content. Toward the end I found myself dicussing content over and over again, when IF things had been reviewed early on, I would have been able to fix them and speed up the important process of preparation and review.

My dicussions to change and upgrade messy and oversized areas were met with "**** built that, we can't fix/change it!" And suddenly I realized that TSM itself has become a shrine to people that don't give a care about Alfa anymore and all we have left of them is their areas, no matter how badly they were built.

The final disappoinment? Watching content go up for dms that had returned just a week after they returned from a break while mine still sat untouched. That and dicussions about what people were doing and finding out things were being worked on that didnt even reflect the needs of the player base in general, something that I endeavoured to base around THEIR needs, not just my own personal vision.

3)Currently the player base of active players have expressed their need for support and changes to the current "culture" of Alfa. However, the people involved in the project, outside of Velian and OGR, do not play as PCs OR DM live on the servers and have not for a long time. Most of the comments to the effect of changes are made by people that don't play or rarely play.

So that is it right there.

Due to my incomptence on TSM and inability to understand Alfa standards over the last eight months I am resigning BY MY OWN CHOICE. No one is making me do this but me.

Sorry, I had a good time with you.

I DID do you all favors and got updates and recordings of all my Dm content in the DM forums.

Still will play Trapper when the Moonshaes go up.

Cloud

Ps. Sorry Nuran/Sywyn. I just can't do it anymore like this. Nuran/Brier's armor is up on the DMFTP and up for review as I promised.

Eh.

What is this? :(

Just read it and it's pretty sad. Besides being on of the best DMs around, you also were one of the few who were active on non US timezone.

I think it's big lost for TSM, i hoped you'll be staying around for years.

With that, why Trapper need to wait for the Moonshaes to come up? can play in BG now and after cooldown time in TSM as well, no?

BTW, Cloud, i still wish to speak with you, as person, unrelated to ALFA.

Let me know please when i can catch you in the chat, or somewhere else.

too tender and controversial for innocent little alfa...expect this thread to be swept under the rug by the end of the day.

Doing it and apologizing later doesn't always work, especially in technical aspects for sure. Sometimes asking for a helping hand of wisdom on how to do something goes a long way. I have always been more than happy to walk someone through doing something I know how to do within the toolset if asked, I'm sure many others are as well.

I for one will miss the DM events and fun times with you Cloud, more than any other DM you've taken the time for those players on the opposite side of the world to yourself (it's a fair comment before anyone says anything, a group of us asked for DM time repeatedly for months, and it wasn't till Cloud stepped up that we got it, without playing between 2am and 9am which is obviously nearly impossible while holding down a full time job)

Thanks again for everything and hope to see you about again in the near future, be it as a player or a DM

I think this epitomizes my greatest triumph that is nearly entirely completed except for NPC spawns (they still have to manually populated.) It was not just MY personal triumph though, Keryn, Curm, and Hollyinfant made this possible too.

Keryn's vision and abilty to think outside of the toolset's assumed boundaries changed my way of looking at things entirely.

So when I reskinned Auvendell and created interiors for it's cabins and Serpentbane tower, as well as spiced up the interior of the Silverlode (though a non-canon shrine to Sharess) Keryn's ideas of soaring vistas and gravity defying walkmeshes came into play as Mr. Duncan also help me recreate a place with Troll caves and apple orchards.

And this carried over into the redevolpment of Quearvarr as a canon version BUT still containing player and DM generated content such as the Moncrief compound and a small church for House Invincible to have a prescence.

PWworlds have always promised a dynamic changing enviroment and I strongly felt this was essential as my work as a DM. I am sort of sad to let my finally plans go, but I just can't live up to the standards expected of a TSM DM.
