Pfft! Come and play with our crew then! Tempusian, Seldarinian and maybe umberlant. You can achieve ANYTHIGN in there.I simply don't like the righteous to slimebag ratio down there (PC-wise, not DM-wise. Ah mebbe dumb, but ah ain't stoopid!).
thoughts....
Uthgardt brave (barb/ranger etc) sent by the Black Lion Chief (a city-ised tribe) to learn from the Helmites more about 'defense' after he realised that as they've given up nomadic ways they need to learn how to protect themselves for the Horde that will eventally happen. He would be surly of course and hate the helmites....for a time.
Young Paladin/Cleric/Ftr of the Red Knight seeking to improve his knowledge of defensive strategy who's only ever lived in the city of Waterdeep and who is completely oblivious to the reality of the savage frontier or is over eager to learn throwing himself into the brewing war near Baldurs Gate.
Grizzled woodsman come ranger on contract to the Helmites to aid them once they realised even the thickest fullplate doesn't help find their way while lost in the wilds.
A battle mage (sorcerer?) who will eventually be able to safeguard entire units or towns
A rogue of Asmodues working his way to the top of the temple hierachy, under deep cover of course, to topple it
A dwarven Defender convert.
A scarred, slightly nuts but tough as nails engineer/saboteur expert in explosives, some traps and defenses but also able to lay about him when the time comes. Favoured weapon = maul. Take a lot of craft alchemy and eventually have the DMs make you cool throawable explosives that only people with a high craft alchemy can use without blowing themselves up (Rog/Ftr - thinking those kinda cool nut bags in the malazan books)
A Earth Gensai related on his mothers side to a battlement. Cant get any more 'guard and protect' than that!!
