PC TOOLS
The PC Tools function is broken as of the fix today. Not working for me or other players at all.

TIME FOR SPARRING SESSIONS TO BEGIN! HURRAH!
Quick question, though. What are the mechanics? is accidental death still a risk, as it was in nwn1 alfa subdual system?
Oh yeah, do we get any of the hp back when we leave subdual mode, or are we left panting like dogs, after losing a sparring match?

I'll post a quick rundown on it in a day or two
edit: Fortunately, Al asked me to do a quick writeup for the wiki, so here's a rough draft of how it'll work:
What you need to do: simply toggle it on or off by using the designated button in the pc tools window, listed under miscellaneous.
How it works: when you strike someone with subdual damage activated, it will deal nonlethal damage (NLD) instead of lethal damage. The amount of NLD is tracked, and when the total NLD is equal to the targets current (not maximum) HP they are staggered. When it is greater than the targets current HP, they are subdued (fall over helpless). NLD recovers over time, currently at a rate of 1hp worth of NLD every 5 rounds. This can be accelerated with healing or regeneration spells, which recover the same amount of NLD as lethal damage is healed. Resting will completely recover all NLD taken.
Things to be aware of:
1) any kind of bonus damage on your weapon aside from +enchantment will be dealt as lethal damage, not NLD. So if you are wielding a +2 longsword with something like +1d6 fire damage, or +3 bludgeoning damage, then you'll do 1d8 + 2 NLD, and either +1d6 fire or +3 bludgeoning lethal damage.
2) critical hits can't be tracked, so the possibility remains to do lethal damage even with subdual activated. If you have a very high strength and are using a two handed weapon, be aware that you may still deal significant lethal damage if you score a critical hit on your target.
3) you can use combat modes just fine in subdual mode, including power attack and improved power attack. Do be aware of critical hits though, as stated in 2). Having either mode activated will greatly increase the amount of lethal damage inflicted if you score a critical hit, especially using a weapon two handed.
4) you can only deal NLD with a melee weapon. It will not work with ranged weapons

Just a note for those who care, (i do) a monk will lose the effect of weapon focus unarmed attack, when using subdual damage. I have allready discussed this with Cres. I know nothing about how the system works but can the creature fist be replaced by an unarmed attack fist so this dosnt occur? I know we have to work with what the platform has to offer, but it seems a little backwards that a pugulist would have more trouble hitting the mark and not doing real damage, that a swordsman?

With regard to the ICness of critical hits doing actual lethal damage, I would look at it in the understanding that even while sparring or attempting to subdue an opponent a combatant could score an especially deft hit, and therefore more effective blow, which would "leave a mark", further contributing toward that target's desire to give up rather than continue fighting.
I wish to thank Cres for his hard work on such an important feature, especially considering how little I know of scripting, other than how to spell it. This is going to be one helluva big help for us knuckle-dragging, sword-swinging types, when it comes down to practicing combat maneuver formation fighting, one-on-one sparring, and so on. Hell, it even works quite nicely against actual hostile targets, which will allow us more flexibility if we wish to beat a mob leader into submission for IC reasons, relieving the DM of the need to intercede and probably respawn the leader that would otherwise have disappeard on death. The possibilities seem endless. Cres & Subdual 4tw!!!
