actually now that you mention it, a summoned horse companion with stats as per the players handbook wouldnt be a bad idea, couldnt ride it, but it'd be nice for RP etc at least

There has been a discussion to replace the mount with a magical, leveling and faith-related weapon but as I recall it got shot down due to the work required.
