Brewing and Distilling deity
Anyone have any idea what a good brewing and distilling deity might be? I was thinking along the lines of Wenta from The world of greyhawk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wenta
My first thought is Chauntea but I'd like to get some other ideas... anyone?
IWS
P.S. This is for a pc I'm workingon for Exodus...

Re: Brewing and Distilling deity
As I recall, there was for a (very) short time a deity of beer & wine in the Forgotten Realms: Bombadil. The Tolkien estate objected, and the portfolio was subsumed by Chauntea. So she's the first I'd suggest. Lliira - as the goddess of feasting and revelries - would be a good choice if the consumption rather than production of booze is the focus of this character.
Istishia is the elemental god of water, and therefor by extension anything done with water. And Talone is the goddess of poisons. So those two are an option. Sharess as the patron of sensual consumptions of all kinds is a bit of a stretch I suppose, but not that big a bit. Ditto for Shar for those who drink to forget.
Are the demihuman deities an option too?![wynar :wynar:](./images/smilies/wynar.gif)

Re: Brewing and Distilling deity
well since you bring them up why not the Demmihumans as well...? ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Opinions on any deities of the realms as regards brewing and distilling regardless of race are welcome.

Sheela Peryroyal for the hinfolk.
You'd think the dwarves would have one, but there's no obvious choice for them, save perhaps Berronar.
But I'd go with Chauntea in general, since she is usually depicted carrying a sheaf of wheat.

Try Sharess, Goddess of Festhalls and Feasts, and general debauchery. Think of her as a female version of Bacchus.

I can one-up that: the Mazticans have a god of rain, water and drunkenness (which makes one wonder what they put in their rain): Azul!

Re: Brewing and Distilling deity
Brewing is traditionally associated with Dwarves and distilling with Gnomes. Yet neither pantheon has a deity who has those explicitly mentioned in their portfolio.

People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.
