ALFA documentation wiki
Re: ALFA documentation wiki
Well, we have acquired sidebars and bottom navigation bars over the weekend, which is nice. By which I mean that Foam did the vast majority of the work and I've been instead visiting unspeakable violence onto ACR 1.92 to make it ready for release with only actual proofreading and technical review work done on the wiki. Our character class pages are a good example of it, and Bards have the advantage of being the first class alphabetically.

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
We seem to be getting by without it. Templates are pretty powerful. They'd be more so if they let me do recursion, but we can cap stuff I guess.
Re: ALFA documentation wiki
Really nice initiative here. I approve.

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
Progress on the wiki steadily continues. We've got a lot of feats up there, almost all of the class features are covered.
I still need to pour over the ACR change logs to make sure everything there is accurate. If someone finds something inaccurate, please modify the page or post here, and I'll look into it.
MaskedIllusion was kind enough to put several base language descriptions up on the Language section, so kudos to her.
Are there any sections or things that builders, HDMs, or players find difficult or confusing? What would it help to prioritize documentation on? Are there any frequent problems that I should write a fix pages for?

Hialmar,
Two other minor things, requests for the wiki.
First, could we get the logo set? How to change it is documented here. If you need someone to recrop/change the logo, let me know. I'd suggest the first method if so.
Second, and a bit more involved (though last I remember it was a fairly simple copy/paste .htaccess edit), could we get the URLs shortened? Documentation here. E.g., it'd be nicer to have http://www.alandfaraway.org/Wiki/index.php/Language be just http://www.alandfaraway.org/Wiki/Language.
Thanks!

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
I looked at wiki for first time today, great stuff!
I only accessed it though since I saw a link in a post, ultimately would there be a link down the left hand navigation bar, or across top of screen or something? Even on the homepage a news item would maybe be wise (our news is always many moons stale).

Yeah. The idea is to replace the drupal pages.Brokenbone wrote:I looked at wiki for first time today, great stuff!

So for instance, the Drupal Pricing Page would be replaced with the Wiki Pricing Page

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
Foam, do you think the wiki is ready ?
Just tell me and I'll change the website links to point to it.
And yes a news would be good to advertise it.

It's getting close. Do you see any major things missing?Hialmar wrote:Foam, do you think the wiki is ready ?

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
From what I checked it's very complete.
I'll do the logo thing ASAP. This is the easy part.
As for the short URLs, I'll give it a try and hope it doesn't interfere with drupal's short URLs.

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
Thanks Hialmar. Should only need to focus on the /Wiki part, but not sure what setup you have going on. But, it'd be a whole lot cleaner if we could do that.Hialmar wrote:From what I checked it's very complete.

We're still missing a few articles, in the tech department. But some of those are so horribly out of date or for NWN1 and should be redone anyway. I'll get the rest transferred over today.
Thanks again for getting this stuff set up!

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
It works but the short URLs are:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/wiki/Main_Page
I cannot use Wiki (capitalized) as it goes into a loop.
Edit: I'll update the links in drupal to point to the wiki

Could we swap the logo up there with this transparent version? The .jpg version doesn't match the default skin (Vector).

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
Done.
I don't remember how to do it but I think that you can put some links on the left side of the wiki.
It could be good to add a link back to the first page of the website and to the forums.
Edit: got it.
Also I have changed all the links found on drupal to point to the wiki.
If I forgot any please post them here and I'll update them.

Re: ALFA documentation wiki
I have made an announcement post here:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/phpBB3/view ... =3&t=50715
If you want to add something to it, you can post there or just tell me and I'll add it to my post.
Thanks a lot for your huge work on this.
I'll try to update the password checking code but it seemed not that simple the last time I looked.
