Administrative Pace - consideration

Post by White Warlock »

Hello,

I've been thinking about this long and hard. The present system for administrative decision-making is a relatively dragged out forum debate that lasts maybe 2 to 8 weeks before a decision is reached. Sometimes far longer.

I recommend the admins have a regular "logged" chat meeting to discuss all the various issues on the table, so that a decision can be made on a variety of issues in a single session lasting just a few hours. Post the chat meeting on the forums, and *poof*, time to get busy.

Assuming how the admins wish to handle this, they could allow 'guests' to be in the chat room at the time, although guests will not be allowed to present their thoughts until open session is allotted, which can be provided two to four times a meeting, for 10 minutes each time. Robert's Rules of Order.

Thoughts?

Could work. Ultimately Leads decision.

I think "speeding" things up was part of Paazin's platform, maybe asking him what he wants to do would be a good idea?

WW are their any other ideas you have that could work as well, off hand I can see it being hard to coordinate such a meeting in real time due to varying schedules and time zones... maybe a 1 week forum thread would work as well? Kinda like the time limit we put on elections.

That would be perfect if our world was flat and we had only one timezone.

I know that most admins are US based but I'm in the old world (well not currently but usually) and sleep or work when the others can discuss things.

Of course, being EST based could be a pre-requisite to being an Admin :D

Hi Hialmar,

I understand where you're coming from. Trying to get people, from different points of the planet, is difficult... but i don't think it is impossible. If all the admins state their times of availability for said meetings, there's a very good chance a window of opportunity will arise.

Nalo, i will obviously have to give it some thought what other options exist. The discussions held by the admins on topics is often good, and the end decisions rarely match the initial presentations, so a poll included in each thread might work, but not often.
