Help needed to clear grass

My lawn Silverymoon needs mowing.


I have several views of Silverymoon, the internal city is probably going to be the most memory intensive, so I am trying to cut it down, literally. I have outskirt areas with grass and trees and terrain so that you can walk up to the gates which are 20 X 10 in some cases, so small enough that they won't lag (hopefully). The main 32X32 interior city (inside the walls) still has the pretty exterior grass, trees, terrain,etc outside the walls. I need to get rid of everything outside the walls to cut down on memory (ie, clear grass, trees, terrain, but leave the elevation the same).

The problem is everytime I clear grass the b$%%^#$#@ toolset crashes and risks corrupting the area. I have updated my vids drivers (Nvid 7600), cleaned off spyware, viruses, and used the Pyro from TF2 to burn out everything else, but to no avail, everytime I try and clear a blade of grass: boom, crash, just like Kurt Russell in a Mustang.

So, what I am hoping is that I put the area up as an erf or small mod on the dmftp and someone else take it and clear the stuff outside the walls. That would save me pullin some hair :) Anyone? Beuller? Beuller?

This may be just as prone to corruption but have you tied copying the area with Terracoppa and duplicating everything exept the grass? It's what I did when I needed to mow the lawn and had the same crash problem.
