Non-canon portal transport between temples

So a portal costs 80K to build. A tower 30K.

Some of the wealthier religions have more than one temple, such as Helm, the Triad and Lathander, which have temples in several towns and cities.

So, is it breaking any ALFA rules to build portals bwtween the multiple temples of such religions?

At first glance, it would be with Helm and possibly Mask and the Triad.

Seems like the kind of IG task it might be nice for a mid-level PC to be working towards during Live?

Yeah, that would be a nice quest.

Just curious, there was a huge quest to have portals put into the Lathander temples in NWN1, including one at Silverymoon. This was never done in Silverymoon to my knowledge. I would have no problem honoring that. There is more than one Lathander temple in TSF.

It was never done in Silverymoon because portals do not work in Silverymoon. The portal was put elsewhere.

Wonder why portals would run 80K?

My own best calculation is a little under 30K, if you found a wizard 17 who was willing to do a "Teleportation Circle" (2530gp) and throw a "Permanency" (23350gp) on it. Assuming for a moment that we used the NPC spellcasting costs kind of rules, even though it might fluctuate up and down due to owing favors, enmity, whatever. Maybe a two way portal would mean doing the same business at the other end, i.e., doubling the price (60K ballpark?)

Anyhow since grand temples, castles, mansions, etc. all can cost tens of thousands of gold coins, having a 30,000gp "secret in the basement" doesn't sound like a big deal. With or without a 30,000gp twin in another basement? FR is littered with portals as is, though it might be the most fun to have this as a "PC goal", though probably more getting favors from Wiz 17s (do 12 Labors to impress such) than being Wiz 17s themselves.
