Expanding interior limitation through haks

Post by indio »

Exteriors are pretty much right. With the exception of an arched bridge I've been able to make whatever I can think of. Not sure who else has found exteriors that flexible.

Interiors are another story. Complex interiors are probably best built as exteriors with tweaked lighting.

Anyway, here's a hak that's in the works that may be worth keeping an eye on. No doubt there will be lots of these eventually, but there's no harm listing them as haks that expand some fairly sever limitations.

That's not bad, but doesn't wow me either. I can think of three from NWN1 that made my eyes bulge for instance: DLA sewers, Elven tree houses, and Dwarven halls. I hope we see the same kind of effort for NWN2.

The only thing I've found personally limiting are the building models. They are virtually all the same style with too little variation. I'd like to see more brick buildings with burned/run down variations, much like the slum house models in NWN1, and I'd also like to see more doors. There are far more in stock NWN2 than stock NWN1 but not as many in NWN1 + CEP. I really, really, really want that cobweb curtain/door!

If anyone in ALFA has the skills, tools, and inclination to convert/recreate NWN1 models, that would be grand.

Yeah, it's not brilliant. But they are making chasms and pits...how did Obsidian get away without making those.

One thing I'd like to see are some interiors with hallways and corridors that you can't drive a bus through. Seems a bit daft for a hole-in-the-wall tavern to have wide, expansive hallways, as wide as the inn rooms. Likely just wishful thinking though, as everything's pretty much going to be locked into whole-tile widths.

The NWN1 Dwarven halls tileset made more than eyes bulge.

You could shoot through the walls. And so could mobs.

*winces with the memory*
