I noticed last night, while tagging along behind Lou's PG'ing warlock in a cooperative OC module, that my scrawny wizard became encumbered pulling a bunch of loot of out a chest.
Maybe I'd just overlooked this before, but it seems they've implemented a system where you are "encumbered" (can't run) when carrying over a certain % of your maximum carry weight, as opposed to NWN1's system, which left you moving full-speed until you exceeded it.
I presume we're keeping this for ALFA? It's likely to change the way some folks play- already I look at my NWN1 character, and realize she wouldn't really wear plate armor, ever, with this kind of a system in. (10 STR)
Have any thoughts gone to applying weight for ammunition and such for NWN2/ALFA? Some of that may need a second round of thinking, if we've already got a more advanced encumbrance system in place from the engine itself.

I love encumbrance, can we do fatigue?
I'm prolly more hardcore than most about these limitng parts of Dnd but I find them better for my creativity and character building

12 str seems to get someone about 85 lbs of carryign capacity while maintaining the ability to run, give or take. But the maximum weight it says is something like 130 lbs. It's a little odd to be honest, because instead of you 'max' being right in front of you all the time, its some number 40% or something below the number on your character screen.
If I'm not mistaken, that 'max load' number, is the amount of weight one can carry before being heavily encumbered.
It would be nice if perhaps both numbers were listed but we will survive

One possibility to keep in mind is that we may potentially have a greater number of players on a smaller number of servers and the servers themselves will have to be smaller as well. This could have a significant impact on the availibility of player housing and storage.

As I understand it, interiors will be much less demanding than exteriors, so providing people with homes in which to leave their heavy stuff shouldn't be a problem.Nyarlathotep wrote:One possibility to keep in mind is that we may potentially have a greater number of players on a smaller number of servers and the servers themselves will have to be smaller as well.
