RP spells

Well, the way NWN2 is supposed to be set up, I think we'll be able to adjust some 2das and scripts to create named blank spells. What I mean by this is, spells with the name sending, for example. It would have a visual spell effect tied to it upon casting it from a selectable spell from the casters spell list. Now my reasonin' behind this is, as it stands RP spells in NWN1 are just that. They have to be played out or adjudicated by a DM, but do not cost the player an actual prepared/daily spell slot. If we can add the above then the spell would be cast usin' an icon and thus take up a spell slot. Some of these would still have to be adjudicated by a DM, but the point is it actually becomes a selectable spell at character creation and/or level up. And seein' as how these things load up prior to PC creation, we're good on that front too.

So, I say we create a list of current RP only spells to be transferred to NWN2 as actual in-game spells. To get the ball rolllin':

detect poison
detect magic
read magic
message
comprehend languages
detect secret doors
detect undead
detect thoughts
locate object
whispering wind
non-detection
arcane sight
clairaudience/clairvoyance
tongues
water breathing


These are just a few examples of 0-3rd level wiz/sor spells.

Yeah, had about 60 or so of these spells made for NWN1, they work the same way you describe currently. Requires a tlk update as well as a hak update, which I just never got around to finishing the non-spell related portions of. As with most things is a matter of whether or not we have someone interested in doing it.

Conceal alignment is in there, along with many, many others. I think T-dawg was checking through the entries for errors currently, not sure if he's done or not. If you want to look at them and/or help, Inaubryn, ask T. The tlk entries will carry over to NWN2, but I doubt anything else will.

There are loads of spells in many volumes. To do this, we'll need spell details, which means we'll need to know the sources. Let's use the Spell Compendium and fill in everything that Obsidian has left out (IIRC, that's what Obsidian is using). Seems like a simpler approach than documenting every instance here.

Full spell descriptions upon specific request, when accompanied by a $5 check/spell made out to cash, in a SASE. Will also supply they lucky buyer with the proper incatation and explanations for the somatic componants required to cast all aplicable spells.
