I was thinkin'. Since NWN2's walkmeshes will allow you to be completely submerged in water and essentially walk along the bottom of a body of water, why not incorporate swim checks into a trigger or some such? I already have scripts that slow PCs to half speed when half submerged or fully submerged in water. All we'd need to do from this point is script in the checks to account for armor check penalties and weight as well as strength modifier and any ranks actually placed into the swim skill.
Also, since custom feats, skills, etc.. now load up at character creation we can add this to the fighter's list of class skills.
Thoughts?

"You people have not given Private Pyle the proper motivation! So, from now on, when Private Pyle fucks up... I will not punish him. I will punish all of you! And the way I see it, ladies... you owe me for one jelly donut! Now, get on your faces!"
If you're swimming, shouldn't you be using a z-axis too? Or is that too much?

Armor check penalties are included already, all we'd need are the checks, penalties for failure, and weight. If we get pStorage working as well as I think we will be able to, I don't think PCs carrying extra weight OOCly will not be a concern anymore.

If it's possible --maybe incorporate some of the underwater combat rules (if that's not way too complicated)
--eliminating use of ranged weapons underwater
---combat penalties for anything but a piercing melee weapon
---spot penalites and limited visual range (as per "blur" spell in shallows; as per "darkness" in depths)
--- essentially no listen checks
--- Dexterity penalties (-4 AC, initiative, Ref saves)
--- No spellcasting undewater (except silent/still spells)

I played the U3 conversion by Oraweb, and seem to recall that a lot of these restrictions were in place. Or maybe we just rp'ed them, I can't remember now.
