NWN2: DM use of VoIP Communications

As we're wanting to have 4+ DMs on a Server at any one time, is it worthwhile integrating some form of voice communication for them to use, so they do not have to rely on typing for chatting between DMs?

They can then be using their fingers to do other things. :D

Not everyone is set up for it and we decided awhile back that it would decrease immersion itleast on a player side..DMs was left undecided..Check the dead horses as this was gone over a few months back..

Hmm, nothing in the dead horse thread about this :?

And I specifically stated DMs and not players.

Wa are now talking about a lot more people on a server, if DM's want to communicate and DM it's a logical way to go. Just because one DM is not setup for it doesn't mean it can't be used by the others.

Some DMs use voice chat. It is entirely optional.

Unless BW incorporates it into NWN2, I'm not sure this should ever be 'required' by ALFA. Unless it's 'required' there's no reason we should have an officially supported program, let alone server. TeamSpeak seems to be popular, but Skype would do just as well.

I honestly can't see what's wrong with typing. Serves me fine. When you get to voice you have accent problems.

The question is for DMs, not players. Voice chat in game between players would be somewhat damaging for immersion, I think. I don't think I could fake a female halfling voice.

If DMs want to use voice, they can run Skype in the background. It works fine.

?!

Why on earth would we legislate how a particular server team wished to coordinate their live DMing?

Because everything in NWN2 is going to be legislated, haven't you been paying attention? ALFA will collapse if we allow anyone to do anything differently than anyone else. Duh.

You're the only one talking about legislating anything here. TheCrazyGoblin was just talking about making voice chat available to making communication between DMs in game easier.

My character has a Calishite accent and I know I could not fake that.

No accents, just DMs talking to each other to aid communications.

Essentially an ALFA hosted [Teamspeak] server with rooms for each server? Why limit that to DMs? Some may prefer to text-chat, and some may have language issues, but it's a useful tool for a party if everyone has it.
