spinoff of weekly xp...

scripted 24hour 200XP cap (all xp gaining ways included)

*watches the PGers log as soon as they get their 200 for the day*
*watches the RPers smile at the PGers departure cause now the story is king not the level*

solves most advancement issues

no worries about most of the issues we have in NWN1 with advancement too fast, DM farming, static marathons, spawn patrolling, etc.

weakness i see is the swamped RL weekday person who ALFA marathons on weekends but they could still get in theory 600 on fri nite, sat, sun playing...roughly 2500 a month still

edit: title

Heh I'd rather we just dropped XP from creatures and got XP from RP and Quests only.

*tosses any ideas for quests into the trash*

Do that and there is no reason to do anything, since you are not rewarded for a night's xp for a quest, which can easily run over 200 xo in a session.

I prefer Indio's 2000XP a week. Or 1400XP a week if you prefer. But weekly XP rates would be better, especially when you're playing on a quest. 200XP total for an epic 7 hour world changing quest just seems somewhat disappointing.

And scrap scripting ideas as well. This would go very well with the loot-token idea as well.

How about this? Everyone making more experience than me has to buy me a raisin cookie?

Sweet!

For an example, I only play one or two days a week, however, most of those times are scheduled
with DM's, thus rendering me 175 to 300 XP. Sometimes, after long quests there is more XP
after a session. And I don't think this is unique at all. For example, I see higher lvl people
passing though my home server gain lvl's a LOT faster than me, even if they are already
higher lvl. However, I know these people play more than me, and are excellent roleplayers so
they most propably deserve it.

Scripted caps is a bad idea, because it makes life harder for the DM's. And we want life to be
easy for the DM's since they are SUPPOSED to worry about stuff, like storytelling,
CR-ratings for mixed parties and so on.

I think the best way for character advancment is through the interaction between a DM and
her playeres. Not through scripts.

Weekly xp cap, not daily.

Id prefer to even see a monthly cap.
Esp. for higher levels, whose epic 7 hour quests can easily amass over 2k.

200 xp a day cap and loot tokens..Thats not Forgotten Realms DnD by any stretch of the imagination.

Leave it to the DMs and Builders to build the lower exp that you want into there servers. We already get 1 little exp for a creature killed..Isnt that taken it as low as it goes..? Especially for the High Risk encounters that are out there. Come on you cant even walk down the road safely till 4th level or higher as a fighter as it is...If you wander even a ways off the road you best be in a full party or your likely to die there..And thats just about everywhere..I dont get it..If the High LvL PCs are PGing dont validate them for there lvls..make them do a pennance quest in no armor and a walking stick through all the statics in ALFA. Do anything that doesnt cause the the whole community to suffer.

Dont like this one at all. I like to play and have fun. I need my Instant Gratification of an exp point here and there..Or else just give the 200 for logging in..Hell ya my 14th lvl Druids never even left the tavern..Thats worse than PGing in my book. It will be the PGers manipulating a new system. Lets just get over it and let the DMs deal with the blatant PGers and move on.

This opinion is mine and Ill keep it thank you.

And you are supposed to live in the land of the free? Common, you gotta see that this cap is an
evil malignt comunist plan! Ther eis no need for a cap if the only thing you get out of
spawn-points is a loot-token and no XP. And with the need for a DM to lock up the next lvl,
how much more regulation do we need?

If you throw out spawn xp then you need to add in the rp scripts.

We have RP-scripts already and they work great!

Missed OC's excellent post.

If I could add the old <blink> to the code I would.

C'mon, PGers aren't enough of a problem to notically nerf everyone of legitimate XP. How about we remove monster XP, and only allow RP-XP scripts and DM-given XP? RP-XP scripts can be put in the ACR... PGers will whine, RPers shouldn't notice (if its IC for them to be fighting monsters, they'll gain XP like everyone else).
