Do people like fog?

Post by indio »

Or not?

At what distance?

I usually push the fog back 200 feet at least so I can see the whole area, or at least half, but then I walked through an area yesterday that I'd forgotten to set the fog back on, and I kind of liked it.

I don't like it - in real life you can see very far - I think the game should come as close as possible to recreating that. I have mine set at 300 I think.

Of course where fog would make sense is in swamps and marshes or at times as a weather effect.

I like fog, I live in Nova Scotia so I have to.

I can't imagine Waterdeep without fog or the Moonshaes minus their morning mists.

I can't recall now, can we control fog coverage by time of day? It would be neat to have it roll in at night in certain locations.

Fog may effect performance; no fog = greater draw distance = more lag. This will have to be carefully tested Player Client side.

I hate the fog cause it is used to increase performance. If it is for artistic reasons than I'm all for it, but as Rusty points out we will simply have to see how people can handle things on low end machines once we go Beta.
