Audible range

Post by Ronan »

In NWN2, a PC's audible range (the range at which he can hear people talk) is 20m. His visual range is 50m (up from 35m in NWN1). We can alter this values, and they won't have any real effect on anything else in the game.

NWN1's default audible range is 20m, while ALFA's is 25m.

Nope. Well, not without significant modification, which MAY be possible at a later date.

I tested this with someone last month. He was far too close when I could no longer hear him. 20m doesn't cut it, I voted for 30m+

20m = 65 ft. I don't know how that translates to game space but it's a reasonable distance on paper, especially if OE doesn't include a whisper mode for players to use.

There is a whisper mode still. Honestly I think we should playtest this a bit more before making a final decision.

I agree. Have a few people test a few setups and have them vote instead. *me tosses his vote*

I think that the value here is tremendous for RP.
For example; elves inheirently should and could spot things further off, and hey, the humour of a dwarf almost running into a threat before he saw it is unending. If only they had the sense of smell too
