What will "masterwork" mean in terms of armour and shields? For weapons, it's a simple +1 damage in one of the damage types of the weapons, but in armour and shields, it can vary between a 80% base weight and a +1 skill bonus is various skills to offset the armour skill check penalty. And it can vary even on the same server.
Which should it be? Lighter? Reduced penalty of skill checks? Both? Which skills should be affected?
Furthermore, magical armour and shields should be made with masterwork shields and armour, so magical armour and shields should also have those special properties.
What about racial armour? Hafling and gnome sized gear should either be 40% or 60% base weight (50% if that's available in NWN2), but typically it's 80% if it has a base weight reduction at all. I'd think dwarven and elven specific armour should be at 80% base weight as a starting point.

Hehe, be careful what you wish for.NickD wrote: What about racial armour? Yeah, halflings and gnomes should have a 50% reduction on weight of armour. However in PnP they also have a reduction on carry capacity, in NWN they do not.

Last I checked you could have +1 ATT, +1 DMG, or both. We'll see what BW gives us to work with on the new engine. We need to ensure they are tagged _MW in any event - we may be automating some crafting, thus the scripts need to ID the MW even if there is no bonus in the engine.Vendrin wrote:How about in NWN2 we actually switch back to the +1 to attack bonus that masterwork weapons are supposed to have.

Can't you make the +1 to ab not effect dmg reduction in nwn 1?
Enhancment bonus not enchantment? or does this only stop the +1 to damage rolls?
I always wondered why alfa mstrwrk weapons were +1 damage

Masterwork weapons can't have a +1 Attack Bonus. It always penetrates AR like an equivalent enchantment. I believe the standard is +1 melee damage of the same type the weapon does normally +80% weight.
Armors and shields can have, what, three +1 bonuses to skill points + 80% weight.
