The allowance of multiple characters per player (something that seems to be in the works) is a step in the right direction. Playing a level 1 character when everyone else is leaps and bounds ahead of you in terms of experience and equipment is Not Fun and was the main reason I gave up the last time ...

I don't know much about the new mechanics yet, but the stuff they've released about 4.0 Forgotten Realms seems pretty contrived so far. Helm is killed by Tyr for some reason and Cyric ends up murdering Mystra, which causes a major cataclysm and conveniently gets rid of a bunch of lesser deities. Sho...
