Got this from Danubus:

https://swordcoast.com/media

There is a DM client apparently. Not sure how it will work.

Sorry if it got talked about before. I didn't find any mention of it using search.

pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

Well that looks promising...ish...

Depending on what the toolset is like, of course. This might be another barely-disguised MMO, but at least worth looking into.

Probably be less jarring than attempting an ALFA Shards if the toolset is able to customize game behavior.

I am willing to split a Campaign Preorder with four other. Any takers?
Yes.

How does this work? One person buys five Steam keys or?

Good find!

Fingers crossed it is compatible with what we want to do.

just read through the about. Sounds like we can get to DM'd gaming immediately without building a lot of stuff. I hope they have lots of prebuilt content we can use.

The model is 1 DM +4 players per game sold, so it's not a PW - this is more like traditional DnD. not sure if you can cross invite folks. e.g. community has a 1000 members, I as a DM want to invite members W, X, Y, and and next time A, B, C, D. That would be ideal in that way you could service a community of players.

Looks like a great format to run campaigns, and no format to run a persistent world. Thats ok tho. Campaigns are a great.

One would hope the smart people could break it apart and "fix it" so could have more than 4 players.

Considering what we did to NWn1 and NWN2, nearly anything is possible.

Hmm, I really wasn't looking forward to more D&D or FR, though HEEGZ tells me the 5th edition rules are much better?

On the other hand the graphics look much much better than Shard's; on the other hand the playerbase it appeals to (NWN players) is tiny compared to Shard's (even today UO and its freeshards boast orders of magnitude more players).

I really hope Shard's graphics and gameplay improve, but unless they get some great funding in the beta-gold stages it will probably not look this good.

Looking over it a bit more, looks like a pay-for-content model, as the higher tiers boast additional creatures and items. If they're selling additional content they may not let people add such content to the game on their own. Or maybe they'll set up an asset store similar to Unity's?

I bet they will use the traditional format and sell "modules" like they do for PnP. Those always included a fleshed out setting and some cooler monsters and stuff.
