ACR v1.92 Update

Re: ACR v1.92 Update
Well... from my point of view this is a huge step backwards.
It's broken multiple long-term PCs for something that isn't even in accordance with PnP, all for a fix that could have been accomplished by DMs politely asking dwarves without martial proficiency not to use waraxes.

Re: ACR v1.92 Update
OK -- scratch my ability to equip.... now it's two handed only.
So... the extra feat of "exotic weapon proficiency, dwarven waraxe" would be the one to allow one handed use ala bastard sword?

I wouldn't make the investment. It's very unlikely that the current circumstance will be permanent.dergon darkhelm wrote:So... the extra feat of "exotic weapon proficiency, dwarven waraxe" would be the one to allow one handed use ala bastard sword?

I think something is weird/buggy.Zelknolf wrote:I wouldn't make the investment. It's very unlikely that the current circumstance will be permanent.dergon darkhelm wrote:So... the extra feat of "exotic weapon proficiency, dwarven waraxe" would be the one to allow one handed use ala bastard sword?
For the last 24 hour or so post-update I had no problem with my dwarf fighter equipping both shield and 1-handed dwarven waraxe.
Then tonight for about 30 minutes it didn't want to let me do it.
Now I can do it again.
Or maybe I'm just high.

Re: ACR v1.92 Update
So I remain a bit confused about all this.
In NWN2 all dwarfs seem to get "weapn proficiency, dwarf" feat. This allows use of the dwarven waraxe. So out of the box it essentially conveys "weapon proficiency martial" and "exotic weapon proficency, dwarven waraxe" to all dwarfs, regardless of class.
__
By D&D dwarfs with the martial weapon proficiency are able to treat the dwarven waraxe as a 1 handed weapon. So if the PC is a dwarf with with the "marital weapon proficiency" feat for whatever reason, he also has "exotic weapon proficency, dwarven waraxe".
As far as I can tell, at least for my PC -- a dwarven fighter -- the ability to equip the waraxe in 1 hand is borked despite the fact that regardless of which ruleset is used, NWN2 or D&D 3.5, he should be able to do so.

Removed incorrect-ness
playing Nathaniel Ward - Paladin of the Morninglord and devout of Torm (cookie cutter and proud of it)
Re: ACR v1.92 Update
We could very easily just add said feat to people who should have it, can't we?
We have like 5 players altogether these days.

Re: ACR v1.92 Update
These are all incorrect summaries of what I am saying.
I have fixed the behavior of exotic weapon proficiency. It used to be that anyone could use dwarven waraxes one-handed. Anyone. That was a bug. It is fixed.
I have not touched NWN2 dwarven proficiencies. I wasn't thinking about dwarves; I didn't ask; I didn't change it. I wasn't thinking about dwarves. Their players rarely speak to me, and when they do it's conversations like this one, in the general pattern of wanting me to work because they asked. This pattern of wanting influence over me without really providing anything in return is the same one I see in advertisement and telemarketing, which isn't a very good model for advocacy.
NWN2 dwarven proficiencies do not and have never given any special allowance to dwarves using dwarven waraxes one-handed. They just let you equip a waraxe. That still works. Any dwarf can equip a waraxe. Dwarves could use waraxes one-handed because anyone could use waraxes one-handed, not because they were dwarves getting special consideration, and correcting exotic weapon proficiency makes them start to behave more like large weapons again-- which, in the hands of dwarves, typically require two hands to use.
I say not to rebuild because the chances of also getting dwarven proficiencies removed in favor of one-handed waraxe use for dwarves with martial weapon proficiency is fairly high.

Zelk is saying this was just a mistake and is likely going to be fixed. Don't get your panties in a knot over it.

The reason I don't communicate much with you is that when I do, I have experienced getting slapped down in this fashion. That said, I appreciate how much work you put in, and as others have pointed out, the horse stuff sounds amazing. So here's my sincere thanks to you for doing all the things you do.Zelknolf wrote: I wasn't thinking about dwarves; I didn't ask; I didn't change it. I wasn't thinking about dwarves. I am sadly deficient when it comes to technological stuff, but I can draw. So how about this: if (when) you fix this thing for us, I'll make a drawing of your PC. Deal?

I am very sorry.
I was not at all trying to complain... and CERTAINLY NOT be ungrateful for Zelk's efforts.
I was truly just trying to wrap my brains around it and struggling due to my own limitied cognitive capacity.
Carry on ... and Thanks!

Re: ACR v1.92 Update
Seriously, can't we just manually add the feat until such time that fixes are fixed?
We've like four dwarf players who need it.

Re: ACR v1.92 Update
A fix is being worked on from what it sounds like; manually adding the feat via console or bic edit for mutiple PCs isn't something to do lightly. Chill out and let's see what Zelk comes up with.kid wrote:Seriously, can't we just manually add the feat until such time that fixes are fixed?

Re: ACR v1.92 Update
Why not?
Whoever should be able to wield his weapon one handed should be able to do it.
Should be done extremely lightly.
Always with a passion to over complicating stuff around here.
