*a young woman, often mistaken for a Knight, is going around to all the temples and churches of the Gate and surrounding towns asking for a few good men and women of faith and good character to join her in what she called "The Light's Alliance" in order to defend against a growing threat to be announced. She urges those, no matter what their experience is, but who have the greater concern for goodness in the lands, to join together and meet with her soon at the Swords and Stars to understand the span and shape of this threat.*

A young member of the BG City Watch enters the Blade and Stars and asks for a stiff drink. He looks pale and spends a good deal of time staring down into his drink. During a lull in the business Aundegal can be heard asking the lad what is wrong.

"'et's wrong? Tells ya 'et's wrong! First day ah work and I get morgue duty 'et the watch...in tha basemen', yeh? Bell'er two pass and 'ey bring in three bag ah bones. Cap'n sez 'ey foun' six ah 'em in tha basemen' ah some 'ouse in tha North ah tha city. Sez 'ey was walled up and all sittin' roun' a table. Like 'ey was sittin' roun' fer drinks."

He takes a long drink and grimaces at the burn of the whisky.

"'ell...'nother bell'er two more and...aw, 'ells..."

He takes another drink, resisting the grimace this time, and exhales slowly.

"And?" Aundegal prods him as he refills his glass.

The young fellow glares at him a moment. "An'? I'll tell ya an'! Tha fookin' bags start movin'! 'en 'ey tear open an' tha bones start crawlin' out. 'ells...ya ever seen tha'? Bones movin' on 'ey own?"

Aundegal merely shakes his head slowly.

"'ell...'ey all stand up. Six ah 'em. 'ey start movin' my way, so's I lit out. Ran. Upstair. Tol' tha Cap'n wha' 'appened. He sends 'nother to see. He run out too."

"Undead in the City Watch morgue?"
Aundegal casts a glance to the nearest patron, who also wears a disbelieving look"

"'et's what ah say, yeh? Cap'n send me home. Says 'e'll send fer a priest. Says no point riskin' 'is own men 'out knowin' more. Respect 'im fer tha."

The Captain of the City Watch verifies the young guard's story and relates that he is expecting representation from the Temple of Tymora directly. If any adventurer types wish to have a look downstairs, he makes it clear that they do so at their own risk. He goes further, though to indicate that the Watch would offer a reward of 100gp should the problem be handled prior to the priest's arrival.

There is an encounter set in the basement of the City Watch HQ. It is suitable for a small party (3-4) of levels 1-3. If someone completes this, please send me a PM, as there may be follow-up RP involved.

A well and loudly spoken gentleman with a silver dragon emblazoned cloak is seen and heard congratulating and buying a meal for the blonde knightly beauty, after raving to the Blade & Stars patrons about her.

He announces to the crowd of how he witnessed this woman and another simple and lovely lady that strode bravely into the city morgue and dispatched and sent to a quiet rest the undead that sent the whole of the city watch cowering behind it's locked door.

An armored man comes through Baldur's Gate and spends a night at the Blade and Stars.

He spreads word that the zhents got more than they bargained for up at Boareskyr Bridge, a whole platoon got wiped out by giantkin. What was strange is that the attack was made to look like orcs did it.

Any that would travel a ten day inland, would be welcome to help look into this. The mans name is Samuel.

A hin merchant is seen and heard in the Burning Wizard in Beregost. He mutters over his drink that he has been completely forsaken by the gods. How else could his luck be so bad?

If questioned, he shares that first his horse was killed and eaten by a dragon as he made his way with merchandise toward Gullykin. He mentions that, while his goods were recovered, his horse was a complete loss.

Now, he goes on to say, the trail to Gullykin is blocked by bizarre horrid beasts with wings who threaten all who try to pass. He says several of the things lurk around the bridge across the swampy lowland along the trail. They fell upon his replacement pony and ravaged his wagon as he made his escape. The merchant makes a drunken vow to reward any who can retrieve his wagon.

Encounter and loot set. Suitable for a party of levels 4-7.

A gold clad bard made his way from Beregost to Baldur's Gate, retelling this tale for all to know*

"As dawn broke, the horrible sounds of livestock being torn apart and the frightening screams echoed through the peaceful rest of Beregost. A bear of great size, a Dire Bear, appeared on the edge of the peaceful borough. As it lingered by the ruins of the Ulcaster, a lone figure in armor charged at it then called out the alarm for the guard as the bear lurched toward town, mowing down a hapless horse that got in the massive creature's way.

The guard rallied, as people ran in terror from the north end of town, but the bear rolled into them like an avalanche of claws and teeth. While the defenders triumphed, and though swords and arrows flew, two of the Dawnbringer's guards lost their lives in the chaos. We mourn their passing and pray for their families."

Meanwhile at Baldurs Gate...

A stout, dark armored figure invited the patrons of the Blade tavern for a round of drinks upon hearing the news.

Oddly , the figure was also heard saying:

"We 'appy for th' every death o' th' mornin' lord servants! drink an' joy as ye can....'owever we do sen' our condolences to th' families o' th' deceased ....ain' their fault their relatives 'ere idiots 'ho served th' 'rong god. "

Rumours spread about a Gnollish Beastmaster, walking around with a dire badger, robbing people or rather, demanding tributes on random roads. Its covered in all manner of clothing and its collection is growing daily. Most people has accepted this since its wearing a silvery badge from the Argent legion. Rumour also say that the gnoll three eyes since it has an eye patch that covers its forehead.

Guards has been laughing at many that come alot less dressed to the city.

A beautiful woman with golden hair and black armor was seen walking along the docks with a frown on her face, carrying two mangled bodies over her shoulder. She was said to enter the City Watch with them, and leave empty handed.

Bu is seen carrying a corpse through East Gate headed west. If questioned he responds that the man fell to goblins south and east of Baldur's Gate, and that he was a man of Tyr. Bu brings him to the city watch morgue and performs simple rituals to send his soul safely on to Tyr's side in the afterlife should that be its destination...

The smallfolk of Gullykin are breathing a collective, large (relatively speaking), sigh of relief as large numbers of combat-ready adventurers decend on their town to offer assistance with the oppressive, dark threat the has been surrounding them.

Many shadows are banished in the nights to follow, but is anyone any closer on how to stem the tide from where-ever it is coming from?

Bu's grumbles are heard across the East Gate as he hurries with a worried pace southward...

((please let me know the repercussions of killing the "Postmaster" IC, would Bu make it out of BG city or would he be stopped at the gates? I am not sure if the guard are so close to the postmaster's Office to possibly hear "shouts" or "cries of pain", it took quite a few rounds of fighting and a summoned Dire Boar as well to take him down, PM me please for consequences, ty!))
