Can easily lead to it. which is why it seems more important that people
will at the very least roll what they should.

Would that be a DM initiiated roll?

Or should you roll sense motive to see if you force the other player to roll bluff?

Otherwise, it's pretty hard to lie IC

i.e.

"Blue is red" ( Bluff = 1+2 =3)
"Oh Sorry, I forgot, no it isn't"

if you lie.... roll a bluff, its pretty straightforward, and assuming the player being lied to is a mature gamer... if they fail the sense motive, they will act accordingly. I've seen this done plenty of times (including with me being the sucker that would believe some rather daft things IC due to rolls).

If you REALLY dont want to roll bluff first, then at least have the courtesy to ASK for a sense motive roll.

Rolling for bluffs requires some cooperation between PCs, as there are modifiers involved:
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/bluff.htm

Also, the SRD and PHB entries for the skill neglect to provide any modifiers for how well-practiced a lie is, or how complex it is. I believe these are gross oversights, and ones I try to account for in my DMing.

If there's a dispute, ask a DM for a ruling. I don't believe PCs should be or are required to roll bluff for all lies (as that can convey serious meta information), but its often good form to.

Locked for offensive Subject line (i.e., suggesting another player's RP is substandard) and SHOUTING by the OP. Keep it polite, keep it civil, or take it elsewhere.
