Infrastructure Censures

Hey hey,

this thread will serve to announce and document official censure applied by the Infrastructure Administration.

While we still have not worked out how we are going to do moderation in the future (all former parties and Admins are involved, to find the solution working best for ALFA), it is my sad duty to hereby deliver the first formal infrastructure censure of zicada's term.

2008-08-30:

zicada is hereby receiving a warning strike for improper conduct and inappropriate remarks towards a member in private conversation.

As biased party, zicada had ceded the decision to LA (paazin).

Just wanted to take this opportunity to apologize to Nalo for ranting at him. I realize i went way too far, and Im sorry about that. I could have handled it alot better.

2008-10-03:

After some initial confusion, Lusipher aka Danubus is hereby receiving a warning strike for serious continuous counter-productive behaviour in chat and on the boards, failing to desist at IA warning.

This decision has been made in agreement by LA (paazin) and IA (zicada), commuting a more severe sentence initially proposed by zicada.

2008-10-24:

After several days of intra-team deliberation, Vaelahr is hereby given an official, recorded censure for reposting of moderated material, misacknowledging of formal and informal warnings, and disrespectful, confrontational conduct towards a moderator. While it was only in off-topic, the repeated nature of the offenses in the face of moderation were considered to warrant a full strike.

This decision, as a first recorded strike, carries with it a one day suspension from forum and chat participation.

Danubus is hereby banned on a permanent basis.
The reasoning I feel is fairly self explanatory. Consistent negative anti constructive behavior with no beneficial gain what so ever. This ruling has been put in place by the IA in accordance with the current ruleset in ALFA.

2013-08-20:

With a continuation of trolling tomfoolery involving racist material, JonnyJerny is hereby given an official, recorded censure. While the offense in itself did not appear overly critical to the moderation team, the nature of a repetition in the face of prior cautionings, together with input from DMA and PA, called for an actual infra strike.

This decision, as a first recorded strike, carries with it a one day suspension from forum and chat participation, which will not be enforced at the moderation team's discretion. This strike has no bearing on further matters of discipline after a period of six months has passed with good conduct.

While the moderation team is unconvinced that JonnyJerny harbours any actual racist notions and thinks Jern did no more than try to push his fellow ALFAn's buttons in a manner of questionable taste, ALFA still aims to be a fun and safe environment. This environment is home not only to members fully immersed in the current young generation of ironic internet culture, but to a variety of people comprised of different ages and backgrounds who come here to relax and game. While playful ribbing, ironic remarks and the occasional taking of the mickey certainly have their place in it, such should be restricted to willing participants, with an eye on the boundaries that the friendship and camaraderie of ALFA require.

2013-10-31:

JonnyJerny is hereby receiving his second recorded infrastructure censure.

This censure customarily carries with it a one-week suspension from game, forum and chat participation, which will be enforced by IA & DMA.

With two recorded censures against his name, JonnyJerny is henceforth ineligible for office in ALFA. The LA is responsible for enforcement.

Infrastructure censures, at the IA's discretion, will usually expire after six months of good conduct, starting today.

While the catalyst for this censure was the inappropriate and counter-productive use of language deemed to be offensive in a thread otherwise conducive to playing in ALFA, this was exacerbated by in-game remarks of a tasteless nature, breaking immersion and aversely affecting his fellows' enjoyment of the game. Added to this are continued, possibly ironic, but no less irritating anti-semitic remarks in chat that have yielded repeated chat censure. Our rules are clear on the matter, and the moderation team has made diligent and conscientious efforts, with the benevolent assistance of other members, of reaching out to Jern to prevent this situation.

Thus, while I deeply regret the necessity for this action, and lament our inability to effect behaviour change in any other way, I cannot in good conscience stand for Jern being a repeated nuisance to his gaming companions, and I cannot let him be a continuous burden upon my team. It is my sincere hope that in the future, ALFA's members will be treated not as a pool of people to be baited, but with the respect and cordiality that our shared goals and enjoyment of DnD and roleplaying should entail.

2014-01-13:

JonnyJerny is hereby receiving a third recorded infrastructure censure.

Despite repeated efforts from the whole moderation team and benevolent counselling at Admin level, Jern choose to continue to engage in trolling and self-amusing behaviour at the cost of this community and its rules. The final straw was an attempt to circumvent a direct Admin ruling by creating a second account to post more spam. This makes the infra infringement coincide with a failure to comply with an Admin decision. ALFA only goes up to three formal strikes.

A third censure carries with it suspension of all rights to participate in the community - game servers, forums, and chat. This will be enforced as any appeal process wished to be granted by Admin has been exhausted.
