WorldGateClient necessary?

Post by Roekemoes »

Sorry if this is asked already, but I want to know if I can update HAKs myself. I mean by this if there will be a notice in the forums whenever a HAK update is available. The WGC doesn't work here because it gives me those aweful BSODs whenever I run it. I don't really mind re-downloading the HAKs every now and then, just want to know if there will be a notice whenever I need to do so.

Thanks

I know they have always posted in one fashion or another Roek, even when it is to let us know that the Worldgate is updated with the haks. (the download site is done first usually)

Thanks, though I managed to use the WGC succesfully a couple hours ago.

Seems that when I start in safe-mode with network access I can run it without issues. I logged into TSM and didn't find any issues.

Just curious, and also so we could formulate FAQs on the haks and Worldgate...what OS are you running, XP? Vista? other?

I'm running Vista on a pretty new machine.

Specs:
Intel Dual Core E6750
2Gb DDR2 RAM
Gigabyte DS3 Mainboard
GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB

Been running Vista for like 4 months without any issues.

Yeah, the hardware is hot. I was just curious if there was a Vista/Worldgate issue here

I've been running WG under Vista since last fall with zero issues.

Roek, we have a Dutch applicant who can no longer open toolset after installing Worldgate. Any advice you could offer him would be appreciated. I tried directing him to an Obsidian thread about a known bug but it didn't help him. His post is at the end of the OAS2 bug thread if you have anything to add that my technically-challenged self doesn't know.
Enjoy the game

This is the first I've heard of more serious problems with Worldgate- I do try to get everything uploaded in current versions as well, but sometimes it falls by the wayside to some extent when juggling many projects and responsibilities.

For non-Worldgate folks, is it easier to have a forum thread to refer to for current links, or to go to the Downloads section of the website?

(Just as updating haks and PWCs with minor changes is faster for clients via Worldgate, it's also much faster on the supply-side, as I don't have to wait out upload times for big RAR files, when only one or two area walkmeshes changed)

[edit: I've never heard of Worldgate breaking anyone's NWN2 install- it's designed /for/ NWN2, after all. The applicant's problem sounded to me like it came from the early version of the 1.12 patch of NWN2, which had a minor issue with file naming for some euro toolset launchers. I don't believe worldgate (the install or the functioning of the program itself) overwrite any game resources.]

I'll try but I have little experience with the toolset.
