Kalo's Obituary

Post by SCI-kick »

Kalomar Antarus , 32 years of age

Kalo moved to the city of Waterdeep in his early twenties, hailing from the North Sword Coast near Neverwinter. He was amongst the very first of a generation of fortune seekers who began frequenting the Adventurer's Quarter several years ago.

He was a member of the Lhuvenhead Trading Company and an ally of the Adventurer's Lodge. He was known to have taken part in many notable raids and campaigns against enemies of these groups. He was also well known in Daggerford and the surrounding areas, especially his mercenary work for Lord Cromm which is rumored to be the culling of lizardfolk in the hundreds.

Kalo is remembered as a man of few words and a rather nihistic outlook. Among his close companions he was known to have a dry and dark sense of humor, and a taste for wine. He was valued as a fierce combatant and trusted ally on the battlefield , though to some he might have been considered reckless to a fault.

He will be missed at the Safe Haven Inn, and at his favorite eating and drinking establishment, The Sword's Rest. Although he never achieved any great fame or completed and notable grand projects, Kalo's legacy will continue as an inspiration to adventurer's and warriors alike. And among his many adventuring companions who he ventured with, and fought side by side with against foes mighty and terrible, he will live on now only in their memories....

There's a storm inside of us... A burning. A river. A drive. An unrelenting desire to push yourself harder and further ... Pushing ourselves into those cold, dark corners, where the bad things live. Where the bad things fight. We wanted that fight at the highest volume. A loud fight. The loudest, coldest, darkest, most unpleasant of the unpleasant fights.

Well done Scikick! Kalo will be missed.

The day following Kalo's obituary, his old friend has the following published:

____

The Goblins and the Cocky Knight

By Alora Tuffet-Hopper

Sometimes in life, you see, good friends
Things can happen that are, say, remarkable
One of these is a knight named Kalo
And his quite unconventional “arsenal”

It takes much more than a rust beast, even two
To put a nick in Sir Kalo’s tools
For a sword as mighty and proud as his
Is like to make all the young maidens drool

Even has his friends flee, struck with abject terror
Great Kalo stands firm, solid, even oaken
A rust beast might peel away his metal plate
But his legendary sword is no mere token

So should you find a horde of angry goblins
And no choice but to quit the field
Stand behind brave Kalo, his codpiece unpadded
For it’s basically a damn tower shield

"Give 'at tough bastard a REAL obituary"
"This is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."
