He sat there quietly at his desk while Sarenna was up stairs working her magic. He smiled slightly because he did enjoy watching her work. Her hands and arms flitting about the various vials without even a thought. "Such beauty and grace, all in one package.", he thought to himself. He let out a deep sigh as he looked around the room.

"Was it all for naught?", he wondered? "How much will I lose to what comes next?", his mind raced. The upcoming battle.. No Battles.. He shook his head and smiled. He could hear her singing as she worked.

Vansa at the doorstep nearly.. "That bitch will pay for that." he thought to himself. Vanrak.. Always finding a way .. "Bring on the Darkness you bastard.", he half chuckles when he thought it. "I must be smart in this. Smarter then them.", he said quietly. He heard her footfalls coming closer. He smiled.

"I wonder how she will take the news?", he thought as she opened the door. He smiled at her as she stood there. His old smile. Sarenna, Luv.. We need to have a talk.. But not here.. Somewhere safer."

Kal sat there on the floor stacking potions in boxes as Sarenna handed the still warm bottles to him. He was amazed by her ability to make such powerful potions. It never ceased to amaze him how fast she worked at it.. Faster then Keryn even. He looked up and smiled at her as she finished another and he took it from her. "Nearly done Sarenna?", he asked. She just shook her head and continued to work to near exhaustion. He smiled. Such determination she had to do the right thing.

She slept a few exhausting hours and then went back to work. A determination he had not seen in a while and it made him smile. His beacon was shining brightly. Almost blinding him. If only she could see what he saw in her. He could almost feel her trials and he knew what lay ahead for her. They each could almost sense what the other was thinking at time.. Like two of the same mind. Or how one's mind controlled two arms, each doing something different but both knowing what the other is doing. He sat there in silence thinking on it when a foot kicked at him. He looked up and she grinned at him. "Sleeping instead of working ,Luv?" , she asked him. He chuckled and shook his head while taking another potion from him. "Sarenna ,you need to rest some more or you'll be to exhausted to fight.", he says. She looks at him and smiles. "Nearly done, Luv. I just wish we had more werewolf eyes." she says to him with a tired voice.

He awoke in the guild where Vale explained that the guild saw them brought back. He nodded to Vale and helped her up and back to the company. The fear he still felt and shame along with it was almost overwhelming. They made their way north, each lost in their own thoughts. When the got to the room the just dropped their gear and climbed into bed. They snuggled in close to help remove the inner chill of being brought back from beyond. He kisses the back of her head and closed his eyes hoping the nightmares would not come. But he knew better. They always did..

He awoke with a start, looking around the darkened room. Something was wrong. He could feel it. He looked over to see her still sleeping ,curled into a fetal position. He shook his head and slipped from the bed. Opening the chest he dumped everything as quietly as he could into it. He looked his bow and then his shield and sighed. He held the bow up and it felt awkward in his hand. He dropped in to the floor, not even bothering to lean it up next to the chest. He sighed again and lay the shield into the chest knowing that was only a small part of what had protected him during the many battles against Kringus last eve.

He thought back to the many wounds she had healed when the rage of battle was going on. He would catch glimpses of her running here and there healing the wounded when he knew most was unaware it was her. She knelt in the snow bloody and battered after they defeat the trap that someone set off.. Even after he had told them. But as usual they rarely listened to him. He asked her if she was well and told her he had found a key. Her face was racked with pain. He handed her his wand of healing after using it on her and told her there was some still left on it. Vale and the other seemed to care not if they were hurt as they went about stitching each other wounds first. Such selfishness they showed when she had given so much. He sighed again.

When they arrived below, after Kal had told then what he saw down there.. Vale insisted to charge ahead. "He really did not care who fell as long as he won the day." ,he thought. That battle.. No sooner had they arrived below.. Yeti, ice elementals and Aurlilet warriors were brought to bear upon them. He used every skill he had to defeat the enemy, but always keeping an eye out for Sarenna. He broke battle several time to rush to her aid. He saw her hit the strings of the Stratus and the hair on his arms and head stood on end. It seemed almost three time the power of the small sparks that Aglorus was sending at Kringus. But Aglorus had her scrolls and many more spells then she did. He saw her get knocked down and using the parasol to disengage those he was fighting, he rushed to her. Much to his surprise a wave of fear and anguish over whelmed him. He saw the thing he feared the most and ran screaming away. He cowered behind a chest oblivious to the many blows the yeti rained down on him.

He shook his head and sighed, once again looking down to the chest and its contents. He wiped away the tears from his eye and once more looked at her sleeping form in the bed. He took a deep breath while watching her and exhaled slowly. He had demons to slay himself. But he had put others demons before his. Now the only demons he care about was hers and his.. "Fuck everyone else!", he said quietly. He walked over beside the bed and knelt in front of her. "I am your rock and you are my beacon Sarenna." he whispered to her. He brushed her hair back and kissed her forehead. He walked around the bed and climbed back into and snuggled up close hoping it would help keep her demons at bay. As he closed his eye he offered a prayer to Selune to help light her path and keep her safe.

He stood there at the foot of the bed after waking again.. Still feeling drained. He sighs and went about getting things prepared for whatever lay ahead. He was laying out his gear in a neat and orderly fashion when it the realization of it all struck him hard enough to buckle his knees. "Shit!". he said a little to loud as he dropped to the floor. She moaned a little and set up. Her eyes held a look of fear and confusion as she looked at him. "What are you doing?" she said when she noticed his gear laid out. "Preparing Sarenna, for what lies ahead." he said quietly. He sighed know why she had that look. "I lead you Sarenna.. And you followed. I lead blindly ..and we died." he stammered over the words weakly. "I lead you to your death and mine." he said weakly. He sighed. He could barely look at her. The hurt and pain he felt because he lead her so blindly was tearing at what was left of his soul.

He glanced down unsure as to what was coming. He could feel the confusion and hurt radiating from her. Her eye boring into him. Tearing at him. Crushing him. He looked back up to her with wet eyes and stood slowly. "I deserve every bit of how you feel Sarenna. I see it in your eyes" he said.
"I am to blame for this. I knew we should have turned back. I saw how they treated us. Never once offering to stitch our wounds. We were there for a distraction!" he said angrily at the end."

He had heard Vales words to Miss Gardner after Adam fell. How Vale had shouted at her. He could see why she might hate him so. He was angry at Vale for not seeming to care about the fallen. But knew Vale was being Vale. Vale the Uncaring. Vale had paid to bring them back.. "Out of guilt?", he dismissed that thought as quickly as it came, as Vale had no emotional bone in his body. "He brought us back so he could use us again.", the thought flitted across his mind.

He had beamed when other acknowledged all the work Sarenna hand done. And she had even smiled at the thanks she got. All the blood and sweat she put into making the potions. He saw the work because he had carried the crate up on crate of things to her so she would not have to. He saw the exhaustion she wore every night to bed. He did his best to bring her food and drink and massage her sore muscles even when she did not ask. The weight of the work she did would have crushed a lessor person. But she did it freely. He smiled at that. For over a month she toiled and being prepared for that fight and he had failed her. Shame washed over him quickly. His shoulders slumped in utter defeat. Looking at her with a sadness born from guilt because he had failed to protect her. Tears started to form and roll freely down his face but her refused to look away from the confusion, the hurt and the anguish in her eyes. "Give it to me Sarenna. Give me all your pain and let me bear it. You do not deserve it. It must be mine carry.", he said as he cried without covering his face.

He lay there trying to sleep but it never came. The words she said to him hurt but rang true. "You ran Kal!" He stared at the ceiling unable to come to the terms of how she said it. What ever magic he had used on him.. Was unexpected. She always told him to listen to the notes. There was no notes.. Just pure fear... Fear of living... Fear of dying... Fear of losing... Fear of the unknown... Fear... Pure unadulterated fear.. The kind he had not known since leaving the Gem. No.. Running from the Gem.. It all came back in a rush. That night.. when the Umberlee priestess told him. Gather what we seek and you'll have the ship and your things back. He ran.. Left her a note. But he ran.. To protect her. He knew he loved her before he left. But then when he arrived in Daggerford it really hit him. And he walked back that same day with no sleep.

Silverymoon. He rubbed his throat where he still bore the scars of being hung, twice. As far back as he could remember.. Coming back to the guild late.. He took a beating.. Told a lie.. He took a beating.. Cried out.. Another beating with another to followed just because. Get caught .. Beating.. So he learned to do. And now.. It was not a fist that beat him.. But words and actions.. Caused the same panic deep inside that he could not control. Cause him to shut down in Fear they would continue.. Caused him to disconnect. Fear.. Anger.. Hatred.. No.. Just fear this time. No anger or hatred.. Just fear.. Fear of losing.. Fear of failing as he did time and time again.. Fear.. Something he could not guard against.. His worst enemy. Fear.

It all came down to Fear. He tried to face it head on but could not. He did not know how.. A worg's howl could creep into his mind, but not into the dark recesses of it. Nor into the places where he thought things remained hidden. But no.. Not Kringus.. He sought what was buried and brought it out. Broke his will. Destroyed him. In more ways then beating him to death. That he could take.. But to instill the amount of Fear, bring it all to bear on him. He was like a naked babe standing lone against the horde that was charging. He took the full brunt of it. And never stood a chance. He ran. He closes his eyes and lets the darkness in and smiles slightly. There she was bright as ever. "<e> Hope Rises Kal. He can't win!" is what she says over and over. She stood there shining like a beacon. As he knew she would be. But she could not see it herself. Fear controlled them both. Fear was what would destroy everything. Fear.. The thing he hated more then Vanrak. More then Vansa. But not more then he hated himself for failing yet again.

They hunted.. The Huntress and the Hunter. Searching for prey. Slipping along in the darkness, he was slowing over coming his fear as was she. The tree's loomed in the distance he asked her if all was well. She stared at the trees looming ahead and rallied herself with a nod. The slipped into the forest quietly. Him searching ahead, bow ready and her following ready to draw on her skill with a bow and her song if need be.

The forest was quiet, too quiet. They made their way west along the bluffs. An occasional rabbit or deer was all the saw. Coming to the trail north into Kryptgarden he saw a worg and a two hobgoblins. "Worg and two casters." he said quietly to her. "Worg first luv." she replied back. He turned back around and the worg had smelled them and was moving towards them. He made the move to slip back and draw it closer and it howled. A piercing sound that brought back the fear. He stumbled into the creek as he fled. Caught by the howl and scared out of his mind. He was trying to run through the water, tripping over the rocks. He was unaware that her new blade was cutting deep wounds into its flank. It never strayed from him. Never turned from its easy prey. As he got control of his mind he turned and drew his blade. He saw her own blade bite deep and the worg slumped to the ground. She rushed to him and asked if all was well. He sighed and nodded.

The made their was up the creek again to where the two hobgoblin were. Quietly he said, "Lets take the one in the corner first. Its closer." She nodded with a smile. The moved to each side of it and unaware to the threat so close to it.. Kal's blade bit deep into its side. Searching for its lungs as she let out a song that turned its bowels to water. Withdrawing his blade, he struck again as hers found its mark and the hobgoblin fell lifeless to the ground. Kal turned towards the other that was less than twenty paces away, as he heard its guttural casting. He was to far from it as its spell went off and struck Sarenna full on. He knew all to well what happened. It had stripped her wards. He lunged forwards and swung his blade in an arc, he felt a spell wash over him and felt the protections dissipate. His blade bit deep into its hip and it let out a howl of rage and pain. He felt an arrow pass his head and saw the impact of it as it sank to the fletching in the beasts eye. Kal grinned wickedly and rushed the third caster before the second one hit the dirt. Sarenna's arrows passed him as he rushed it striking it in the upper chest and neck. Kal stabbed forward and up his blade catching it just below its belt and slicing an upward arc that exited its right shoulder. It stood there for a brief moment before collapsing to the ground. Kal turned to Sarenna and smiled. "Well done ,Luv." he said. Sarenna beamed. "The stripped you wards as well?" , he asked. She nodded and smiled. Kal walked up to her and with a bloody hand wiped it on her cheek. "What would Clary think Kal?" She asked with a grin. Kal smiled back, "Tell her its War paint, Sarenna." , he said. She laughed happily.

They made their way south to the Unicorn Inn where they collected the bounties. They set by the fire and chatted about things and how to move forward from where they was. She was teaching him Elven, and he was mispronouncing them, which made her laugh. Kal's grasp of the tongue was slow but he was learning. Sarenna smiled at his struggle but helped him understand it.

As dawn approached they made their way east along the road. When Kal stopped and pointed ahead.. Out of the mist it came. Regal. Purposeful it came. As they stood there and watched as the morning fog lifted, a beetle charged it. Spiting at the Stag, who tried to bound away but could not. The hunters charged forwards to defend the stag who was trying to stagger off. Three more charged out of the fog a Kal who swiftly engaged them. The closest one spit full in his face and he caught it with his mouth open from the unexpected attack. Sarenna with bow in has was slinging arrows at them as Kal slashed with his blade. As the last one fell Kal threw up form the vile stench. He leaned heavily on the tree retching. "Sarenna the stag.. See to it.", he said between heaves. He tried to keep a bleary eye on them between heaves. And once his stomach was emptied he made his way closer. Watching her try to help the animal. Kal motioned her over and handed her a kit and then motioned to the stag. She stood there looking at him and shook her head. and used it on him first. Handing him herbs to stop the sickness and herbs to absorb the poison. After a few minutes the urges calmed so they set to work on the stag. After several tries Sarenna cured it of the beetle spit and it licked her cheek in thanks. Kal smiled at the sight and Sarenna giggled lightly and touched her cheek. "It licked me.", she said quietly. Kal looked at her and she was beaming with such pride and happiness he had to laugh. The watched the stag bound off and set out return to the city. Sarenna looked at Kal and smiled, "Lets go home Luv." she said, still glowing. Kal stopped in his tracks and blinked several times. "Sarenna.. You said home!", he blurted out. She turned back towards him. "Yes.. Yes I did." she said with a smile.

Kal stood there at the entrance to her crypt and sighed. The door stood open.. By who's hands he was unsure of. He reached to close it but instead stepped back away. He quickly warded himself and with a deep sigh his last thought were or Sarenna and Selune.

After Vale had left the Guild, Adam had asked the one thing he knew that would upset her. He answered Adams questions and frowned when she started leaving. Moving after her he made his way outside to find her gone. He called for her over and over but she had vanished. They other piled out of the Guild asking what was wrong and all he could say was. "She is gone".

He made hos way to the cart fearing where she went. It had brought him to the door. He stood there staring into the blackness. It beckoned for him. Frowning he took a step inside.

Whispers in his ear and he crept along. He spotted them so easily. They could not harm him as he was as much of a shadow as they were. Selene's Promise made quick work of them. It also aided him in other ways, but was it enough? He felt the ghostly fingers rake across his back absorbed by her wards. He spun to it and dispatched it. Making slow progress down the corridor fighting constantly for every inch of the place. The struggle inside was far worse then the outside.

Outside he was warded. Inside he was not. He could see the door not far ahead and sighed. He struggled with every step like his legs were encased in stone. He slowly made it to the door.. Stretching out a hand he dropped to his knees. He looked back one last time to the entrance and with a tear in his eye he opened the door. Darkness enveloped him.....

With Sarenna's help he stumbled slowly back to the Tower. Recoiling slightly from the mirror as they approached it. Sarenna calmed him and steeled her own nerves and stepped through. He staggered as he appeared and Sarenna helped to steady him. Glancing to the pool of blood on the alter and floor Kal whispered, "I need to clean that up." Sarenna shook her head and pulled him to the stairs instead.

Sarenna helped him from his armor and he winced in pain as she pulled the left sleeve off his stump. He stared at it with his head lowered. "I should have known Sarenna." , he said quietly. She shushed him and helped him into bed. She undressed and cuddled up to his right side as he drifted into a restless sleep recalling the events from earlier.

"Kal.. Come here." Sarenna had said. He stepped quickly to her side and looked at the mirror. He watched as the darkness swirled into the silver as it went totally black. Then the lab was plunged into an unnatural darkness. One he had felt before. They quickly retreated to the stairs leading to the top of the tower. As the darkness clears a lone man dressed in black stands there. "Ah.. A splendid tool", he says in an icey tone surveying the chamber. The man slowly turns to Kal.

"Who the are you!", Sarenna yells art the man, and then follows his gaze to Kal. Sarenna gasp loudly, "Who is thi..Oh no.. Kal!" Kal studies the man as he strings his bow. Kal drops his bow and back up against the wall visibly shaken. "Wha.. What do you want?", Kal stammers out. "Merely to satisfy my curiosity of those who managed to push Vansa out of the city." The man replies. "Just say what you have and go.", Sarenna spits at the man in hatred. "I'll go when I choose ,child. And you still owe me a service boy.", the man says as he turns to Kal. "Service? I don't owe you shit!" , Kal says back to him as he reaches for Sarenna's hand. "Then you owe me what you took from my servant." he says with a gesture at Kal's arm. "Then take them!", Kal replies. "Are you certain?", The man says. Don't hurt him!", Sarenna yells. "I am.. ", Kal replies with a hesitation.

Vanrak motion to the table in the lab. "Lay down boy.", he says. Kal looks back to Sarenna and then to the table and walked over to it pulling his sleeve up. "What are you going to do to him?", Sarenna says with her eye intent on him. "I am going to take what belonged to my mistress back." , Vanrak replies in a calm tone.

He again motions for the table. "Lay down!", in a voice that is more of an order then a request. Kal glances back to Sarenna and gripping his blade in his right hand he reluctantly lays down on the table. "Kal will be free then?", Sarenna asked. "And the curse will be gone?", Kal asks as well. "You and I both know he is troubled by far more then we few can muster." Vanrak says. "You'll leave us be?", Kal asks. Vanrak glances from Sarenna then to Kal, "Aren't you?" Kal nods slowly and glances to Sarenna who has her hands to her temples pulling her hair tight. "He has suffered.. We /both/ have!", she says shivering her eyes on the table.

"Unless you cross me again." Vanrak says. "And how will we know if we do?", Kal asks. Vanrak gives a cruel grin, "Your a clever sort.. I guess you'll know." In one swift motion before his words seeped into their minds Vanrak drew a great sword and in one fell swipe severs Kal's left arm at the elbow. Sarenna screams out "NO!" Kal screams and grabs the stump as blood spurts forth. Kal rolls from the table onto the floor trying to staunch the flow of blood. Vanrak watches as Kal is trying to stop the blood flow and slowing picks up the forearm with a chuckle and he steps through the mirror.

Sarenna has a look of horror before rushing to Kal's side in a panic. She pulls forth a dagger in to much of a panic and curses under her breaths. "No no no.. come on.." she says while grabbing for a different one. She touches it to the stump as he lays there screaming. Kal's eyes are wide in pain. Sarenna activates the dagger and checks the stump which is still flowing blood. Kal groans and goes limp. His fae is pale. Sarenna activates the dagger again. "Fu.. Fuck.. Come on..", she says. With a sharp intake of panicked breath she touches him again with the dagger. Sarenna stands and using her engagement ring to grant her strength she wraps Kal as best she can in his cloak and puts him over her shoulder.
Sarenna turns to the mirror and whisper screams at it before stepping through hurriedly. "Its all right, Kal.. yer going to heal.. its.. shit!" She says as she kicks the front door open into the darkness of the night.

Kal's arm and stump sway as Sarenna makes her way to the cart. She gently lays him in before climbing in telling Steven to hurry to Selene's Temple and mind the bumps. She yells for Naneatha as the cart rocks to a stop. Picking Kal up she gently carries him over to the alter and lays him down. Naneatha startles and furrows her brow," What happened?" You have to help him, /please/!", Sarenna says in a near panic. "It was Vanrak.. He cut his fucking arm off!" Sarenna cries out. "Vanrak? Himself? Where did this happen?", Naneatha asks while giving the stump a once over. "Great gift to heal him... the Bastard.. Tower.. What does it matter, Gods.. help him!", Sarenna says in a panic.

Naneatha peels back the dressing and looks over the wound. "Why isn't the arm forming back?", Sarenna asks. She watches Naneatha inspect the wound. "Kal.. I am so sorry, Kal.. Should have never... ". Sarenna says quietly. "Nefzen.. Fresh bandages here.", Naneatha instructs him. Sarenna runs her fingers through his hair. "Sarenna.. Look at me." Naneatha says. "He is going to be well." Naneatha says in a soft reassuring tone. Naneatha shakes Kal several times before he moans slightly. He stirs and reaches for the stump and screams in pain as he bumps it. "Easy Kal.. You are safe." Naneatha reassures him.

Kal looks around and seeing Sarenna looks down in shame. Sarenna bites her lip. "Kal.. Its well love.. Its healing. Naneatha says your going to be well." She says in a loving tone. "I am sorry Sarenna.", Kal says quietly to her.

He set there just outside the gates to the city, looking back over the grey featureless landscape. He could not remember how long he stood there starring at the city in the distance before slipping in with the flow of people headed there. He sighed as he walked along. Time had a different meaning here it felt like. One minute he was leagues from the city, the next he was at the gate. He stepped to the side just inside the gate and paused.

He watched the Baatezu weave in and out of the crowds offering their contracts to any who would take it. Celestials from every deity showing up to gather their faithful. He cast an eye skyward and waited. An Eyrines walked by ran and taloned finger across his chest. He cast her a casual glance and shoved her away roughly. She laughed lightly as she walked on. She was nothing next to some of the other Baatezu he saw walking about. Mingling, even with some of the Celestial beings, almost like this was the butcher shop and the faithful and faithless were prime choices of meats ready to be bought and traded.

He closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall. Her light shown pure as always. He could nearly hear her whispering to him to open his eyes.
A smile played across his lips. He remembered her smile, her smell, and her touch. He opened his eye and cringed as the light blinded him. The pain hit him harder then any Yeti or Ogre ever had, nearly bursting the air from his lungs. Every ounce of his being felt like it was on fire. A ragged scream erupted from his parched throat. He tried to scramble away but arms were holding him still. Making it hard to move in his weakened state. A gentle hand caressed his cheek and a soft voice calmed him. "I am here love." , she whispered in his ear.

Re: Alone in the Darkness

Kal sat between the trees in the wet grass and patted the ground next to him. He watched Sarenna move sway from him even after calling the trees next to where he sat down. They were asked to sleep by Ebon, Tasma's familiar. Kal dozed off after watching Logan down nearly half a bottle. He opened his eyes to a darkness he had not felt in a long time. He looked around expecting to see Sarenna shining brightly close by, but was greeted by even more darkness. Darker then anything Vanrak could conjure. He dropped to his knee's and screamed. His scream was met with more oppressive darkness. No echo.. No sound other then his breathing. Not even the water dripping from the trees. Nor Ebon's keening. Not even Tasma's calming voice. Pure silence. Like Sarenna had vanished from existence. He stood and tried to walk but being unable to see his hands against his face, he crawled. For how long he crawled, he knew not. Time was at a standstill for him. Not even the metal hand made a noise as it scraped along.

His right hand was raw when he stopped. His shoulders and knees aches from crawling. His head hung from exertion. His breathing was rapid. Still no light shown for him. No Beacon in the darkness to guide him. He was lost. He threw up violently at the thought of it all. Being lost. Loosing Sarenna. Or had he lost her and not realized it? He vomited till he dry heaved. Was it just his mind playing tricks? Was it Vanrak seeping into his mind? Or was it something else? Shaking his head he became disorientated. The threw up violently again, but nothing came up. A burning pain in his stomach. He felt his leather jerkin.. Warm, wet and sticky. "Gods No!", he screamed. He felt it. A large cut. His insides trying to spill out. He rolled to his back and reached for a pack that was not there. So unprepared. Had he been in his right mind it would not have happened. So eager to help. He put caution to the wind. And now laying there.. On his back.. His life blood spilling forth and no way to staunch it.

He sighed heavily. He felt for his pouches on his belt, gone as well. He felt one of her daggers on his hip still. He hoped it was a healing dagger. He growled angrily when nothing happened. He closed his eyes and felt the knifes edge. He could feel himself growing weaker and weaker. Using the edge of the blade he started cutting strips from his leathers, as thin as he could manage. He cut three as fast as his shaking hand could cut. He could barely hold up the blade as he finished the last. He raised it one last time and felt it slip from his grip but never heard it hit the ground. His head rolled to the side.. Glassed over eyes staring into the darkness...

He sat up with a jolt at Ebon's keening. Sarenna standing there all happy. "Kal.. Logan.. I saw her!", Sarenna smiled softly. She cackles nervously, "She looks terrible! Tasma , She is going to help us!" He stands up and stares at her briefly before turning and heading towards the tower. "I need to get out of these we clothes." he said. Sarenna replied, "We need to talk to everyone!" He glanced back at her, "Everyone?", he asked. "Anyone Clarianna might visit in a dream.". Sarenna said as she skipped towards the tower. "We're going to find her Kal. Its going to work!" she says excitedly. Kal head into the tower and the others follow. "I'm for a hot bath." , Sarenna says as they climb the stairs. Logan looks at Kal and asks, "How do I get back?" Kal pauses at their door and turns to him. "I'll show you.", he tells him. Kal leads Logan up to Sarenna's lab and shows him the portal. "This will lead you back Logan." Kal then turns and head back downstairs. He pauses and listens to Sarenna humming in the bath and takes a deep breath and head to the room with a sigh. Once in the room he peels off his leather jerkin and looks down at the criss crossed scars on his stomach, using a metal finger to trace the fresh pink scar that runs from just above his breeches to right below his chest. he look at his right palm that was red and painful. He closed his eyes and did a sharp intake of breath just before the floor slammed into him.

Re: Alone in the Darkness

They lay there holding each other. Sarenna running her fingers through Kal's hair as he tried to drift off to sleep. He looked like he had not slept in a moon though it had only been a few days. She started humming and he yawned an closed his eyes. And slowly drifted off to her singing.

Troubled days are many
Burdens will renew
Before you’re free of any
Seek the truth in view

Darkness enveloped him. He dropped to his knees and screamed her name several times. He looked about quickly, searching for a glimmer of hope. He hung his head and closed his eyes with a sigh. He said a prayer to Selune for strength, like he did nearly daily. He cocked his head, listening. Something faint in the distance. He kept his eye closed and concentrated on it.

Turn east to seek the truth now
The sun that brought your trial
The pain you now do rue on
It rises but a while

A faint sound opposite of the first, it grew in a rush as he listened. With a sudden realization he barely got his arm up before it hit. A scream of pain he let out as he went tumbling through the darkness. He tried to move his arm and screamed in pain when it refused to work. He lay there struggling to move. It felt as if the tower had struck him. His muscles in his body burned. He blinked away tears and struggles to roll over. Screaming in pain as he tried, he passed out from the effort.

Look east to see the truth now
And fill your heart anew
Selune’s Grace is rising
Her light is meant for you

He awoke sometime later. The pain was tolerable now. He opened his eyes and saw only darkness. He closed them and struggled to picture her flying about Amphil full of joy. He smiled in spite of the pain. His thought drifted back to the day when she handed him Shifter. The joy in her eyes and oh how they shined.

Your need she is assaying
Her Tears will comfort you
Hers and mine, for you, now
Hers and mine for you

He opened his eyes to stare at the ceiling of their room. Cords run through hoops that was also tied to those Holy Grenades Sarenna was fond of making when they were fighting Vanrak's minions and Vansa. One pull would drop them all in the room he thought. He felt her warmth against him. Still nestled there keeping him safe. He smiled knowing it was her voice that whispered to him in the dark.
