*Tacked to the door of her apartment at Madam Garah's*

My dear Madam Garah:

Good morning, Madam, I hope you are well.
On this glorious day, whoever wouldn't be?
I've found recent tidings in the city unsound
And have left me in a state of terrible grief

As you may know, a gaggle of monsters
Have sadly taken control of the streets
Thieving at will, and without restraint
I fear that I must take leave of my suite

Inside I have left a few valuable things
Should you need, they'll fetch you an enviable stack
For while I must depart for now
I have every intention of one day coming back

I won't be too far, a few days by wagon
Send a missive and you can trust, I'll come with speed
I'll hold on to the key should ill tidings transpire
For more than wealth, I care for my dear friends' need

One other request, please do not disturb
My charming collection of mounted heads
I find it most amusing, that these skinny arms
Have struck a fiend and a goblin berzerker dead

Your friend,

Lady Hopper

(Signed with an indulgent flourish)
"This is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

Alora purchases a round of ales for the drunks in the room, demanding that they toast Marisha, Keryn, Sers Arryn and Kalo, Kiir, Zylai'a, and Captain Jack. She refuses to sing until all consent to toast.

___

Money for Nothing and a Swim for Free

I took a swim in gold today
Gods, I struck it rich
All thanks to a few murderous curs
I followed into a ditch

A pile of gold lit up the chamber
Like a glorious eastern sunrise
It also provided an ample view
Of the greenskins we had surprised

Sers Kalo and Arryn attacked, post-haste
A bloody green dervish around us
With the rest of us safely tucked away
The warriors managed to astound us

I felt my brows singe away
As Keryn's flaming balls sailed by
T'is a small sacrifice that I can bear
For those glorious, anguished cries

We bards sang loudly, and masterfully
Inspiration in the fever of battle
Our mates peppered them with arrows and stars
A slaughter of supremely wealthy cattle

At the end of it all, I raised my voice
And commanded the party to stop
Gingerly, I made my way to the pile
Turned, and fell back with a plop

I made the shape of a celestial
In that colossal pile of gold
Friends, let me tell you that swimming in coin
Is something that never gets old

Find the baddest warriors in the quarter, my friends
Stand safe as their services are rendered
I've found that this is the best possible way
To get rich in the City of Splendors
"This is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

The Revenge of Tegrin and Thorv

It began with a simple incantation
A most pleasant sleep, sadly interrupted
Lights danced about through the dank, cool air
Puzzlement, a hard-won peace disrupted

Behind him, a quiet voice whispered
He knew it well, a good dwarf he'd slain
"Murderin' bastard, I 'ave returned
To even dis lopsided score again"

A fox, the vile man leapt to his feet
Drew his sword and kicked his man awake
"Ready, boy, they're coming back!
I fear they've come my soul to take!"

Suddenly One-Eye quaked in his boots
Humming filled the dark recess
Stricken with terror he couldn't help
But fill his pants with a dreadful mess

Another voice then, rung clear in his ear
A hin whom he'd dealt a grievous wound
"Say your prayers, and fast, you cowardly snake
You'll be with us in darkness very, very soon..."

Then, a great heat, like a blacksmith's coals
Rushed upward from beneath their boots
A hungry, angry, vengeful flame
The man wailed: "Please, spirits, a truce!"

As his man crumbled to the ground
Old One-Eye, pants sodden, fell to his knees
"Let me go, spirits, I'll do anything!"
A pretty voice responded: "Good. Now, die for me."

One-Eye's ears filled with the prettiest song
He failed to notice the thin, jagged wire
Pressing ever deeper until peace descended
And with a quiver, his murderous life expired

From around the corner, Ser Angus watched
Impressed, he stood there quietly cursing
"MiLady, I cannot help but say.
You are not a very nice person."
"This is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

Ah, I miss those two.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Ah, I miss those two.
Me too, but as you can see, they did return briefly in ghost form (sort of) for about two minutes.

In case there is any doubt, Murgen (again accompanied by Gus) avenged Thorv long ago. However, there were no ghosts to witness the event and no songs to commemorate it. Unfortunately, Mack One-Eye would be more appropriately named Mack Infinite lives!

Also, credit to Rumple for creating a character that still has a profound impact on Murgen and others, it seems. Murgen still dreams of seeing Thorv's dream a re-establishment of Melairabode come true. (But with the precipitous decline in the once thriving dorf population on WD, progress has been stalled!)
Current NWN1: Murgen Kjarnisteinn (AKA Grumpy Scout)

Current NWN2: Muir Cheartach, AKA The Pale Faced Pie Man

R.I.P.: Croaker Lyosbarr, Knight of Yartar, Lord of Lhuvenhead (NWN1)

They were great characters, fo sho. I'm still trying to get a tribute plaque to Cullen in the Beer Golem.

Lyrics Written in Lady Hopper's Private Journal

Alone, I find myself at times
Wondering who is staring back
I know strongly, truly who I am
But what I see doesn't seem to match

And further, echoing in my thoughts
A voice that I cannot quite place
"It won't be forever, my wee friend
Just until you've learned a little grace."

Folded on my vanity counter
A colorful, patched and wondrous cloak
Songbooks written, filled with laughter
Things that of another, seem clearly bespoke

That happy, smiling hin stares right back
I sit here, confused, staring straight ahead
Wondering when this abominable fog will clear
And calmer, sunny skies remain instead
"This is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

The Death of Lady Hopper: The Curse

One time I awoke unexpectedly
And found that I could fly
I joyfully lifted into the air
Soaring upward toward the sky

Upward through the mist I flew
And 'BONK' I hit my head
The mist revealed no pretty stars
But a dreary cave instead

With the cave came an overlarge cat
Of mist, and scale, and fire
Thankfully for this little mouse
It didn't think to look a bit higher

Some time from then, though I can't rightly say
I heard a voice in the mist.
"Lady Hopper. It's pleasure to meet you."
And then I was really pissed.

Trapped in a nightmare, yet strangely quite real.
While here, there another remained.
Listen in, I could, if I tried quite hard.
Though my will was sadly restrained

Later still, creeping, quiet and slow
Ventured to the chasm beyond the kitty's den
Its magical jeweled eye could not quite catch
A mere wyrmling, tiny as a wren

Down I dove, deeper and deeper
And lo, the darkness pushed back
Even so the dark could not fully contain
Ahead, I spied the tiniest crack

Poked through, I did, a tiny blue claw
And I stole back my wee little hand
"HELP ME HELP ME HELP ME" I scrawled
Hoping my friends would understand

All of that was awful, believe me, my friends
But I'd yet to observe the worst
Wings beating, untold hands pulled me back
Truly I was accursed

Murgen's course hands, and Cullen's soft
Even memories bind me to this cell
Ghosts and spooks, with speed, away I flew
I saw the others were here as well

So here I wait, in this dark crevasse
I have faith there will one day be
A gaggle of brave (if careless) heroes
To come and rescue me
"This is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

I !@#$ing Hate Winter

The snow is blowing white and pretty
Right in your !@#$ing eyes
Freezing your ass off in the splendorous city
For a desert hin, t'is a poor surprise

Midwinter, they say, is a joyous time
Give gifts, dance, sing, and drink your fill
How can a bard be expected to rhyme
When the ink's frozen round my quill?

Trees and lights up round the streets
Shops selling the most wonderful toys
T'is hard to have any fun between the sheets
When frostbite's taken all of my boys

Should a pretty hin be found, dear friends
Slumped and shivering at a lonely bar
Kindly give her your cloak to lend
And perhaps place her near the hearth
"This is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

I think there's better ways to warm up, like Alora breathing fire and flying!

Did I mention we have a way to make Alora fly now? Because we have a way to make Alora fly now. I might have to give her wings early...
