You gotta fry it nice and crispy, then serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

But alas, Rump's right. We've cut meat from the menu apart from Wed and Sun, and though bacon can be a treat, it just isn't competitive on health-to-pleasure ratio.

Eat it.
All the time.
It's just so damned good.

You'll die 5 years sooner with a (greasy but very tastey) smile on your face while these quinoa eating hippy's will spend their incontinent 80-85s alive and miserable...unable to clutch the mouse with their arthritic claws.

But seriously veilan....icecream? :?

We're on a modest portion of salmon thrice weekly these days.

It's almost like I know what i'm doing.

Wild Alaskan salmon, or farm fish?

Because if farm fish, Rumple, shame on you. Shame, shame, shame.

Also, all this health crap is moot. Just exercise once in a while. Done and done!

One thing I have learnt through my studies is that there is a big gap between fitness and health/wellness.

One can be fit and unhealthy
One can be fit and healthy

One can be unfit and unhealthy
One can be unfit and healthy

The body acts as a filter for all the crap (and good stuff) we shovel into our stupid moufs.

*Foods which are carbohydrate dense may start to mess with our insulin response and promote diabetes. Diabetes is for life - though it's symptoms can be managed in some cases. (Doesn't mean it shouldn't be eaten, just means it is better to pair it with foods higher in proteins or (preferably good) fats).

*Foods which are salt heavy (ie anything processed in the supermarket pretty much) may promote hypertension, roughening the inside of our blood vessels. This damage is for life.

*Foods which are heavy in saturated or trans fat may increase the bad cholesterols which deposit plaques into the blood vessels. It's a double whammy when paired with the roughened surfaces from hypertension as it'll stick like velcro. Hello CVD (Cardio vascular disease).

*Not to mention obesity which may contribute directly to causing any of the above. One gets obese by eating more energy than one expends. (Very easy to do in these modern times). Not uncommon for folks to be obese, hypertense, diabetic, with CVD. Why? Because the root causes are very similar - Eating without awareness of what we're eating.

So there you go, 4 of the biggest killers in the West. Directly linked to diet. Nutrition is still mysterious thing, with some conflicting information, and plenty yet to be discovered. The deeper one looks into it, the harder it is to not to something "wrong". Happy to answer questions for what it's worth - A+ student of Sport and Exercise at university level (year 1). I sure didn't know much about how to live healthy until I got a formal education in it, it's damn hard to figure it out without one with all the conflicting crap and bro-science around (no, coconut oil is probably not good for you). Better late than never.

Farm salmon or wild, Rump?

Because if farm, which most is!, shame double shame on you. Cat food-fed, antibiotic-stuffed, pesticide-covered (to fight the sea lice infestation around these pens), orange-dyed, polluting, wild fish-killing, fatty shit.

I thought this thread was about bacon. If you want to talk about Salmon start a fish thread. Unless the fish is wrapped in bacon, then its OK.

Step by step:

1. Cut multiple strips of bacon into small pieces.
2. Fry bacon.
3. Remove bacon pieces and set aside, leaving grease.
4. Place WILD ALASKAN SALMON FILLETS (or your own fresh caught) into grease to cook.
5. Remove cooked salmon.
6. Add white vinegar, mustard, sugar, fresh dill to grease in pan.
7. Cook briefly, whisking it all together.
8. Drizzle over salmon.
9. Sprinkle bacon pieces over salmon.
10. Enjoy.

Steps:

1. Cook a bunch of bacon.
2. Remove bacon from pan and do with it what you will (preferably eat it -- yum, bacon).
3. Pour pan full of bacon grease into bottle of bourbon.
4. Let sit on counter for 12-24 hours (or more for even stronger flavor).
5. Place in freezer overnight.
6. Strain through cheesecloth (or whatever) into different bottle.
7. Enjoy.
