I started a new EVE-Online account a several months ago (maybe almost a year ago?), my Capsuleer 'Skahn Hanaya' is quite skilled now, ...and very well equipped... and very rich.... with no EVE-pals at all, still looking for a good Corporation (Guild) to join. He's Amarrian flying a fully loaded Omen Navy Issue (Combat Cruiser class):

Check out that bad boy. :P

When on Mining runs, I also splurged for this mofo here: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Retriever
(huge cargo capacity, lots of cash rolling in for a few hours mining)

EVE-Online is interesting in that even if you do not actively play... you just need to make sure you login and "re-queue" a new skill in your current-skill-being-learned queue... over time, that skill just racks up skill points until it is "learned"... you can take long breaks if you're into other games, and learn a skill over a longer time that you might really need as a pre-requisite to another skill down the line without actively playing the game all the time.
...the last skill I queue'd up had a completion time of: "23 Days" (since i'm back into ALFA, and also playing a lot of Hearthstone lately).

You can go back in, and re-queue another skill if you want and not lose the progress on any current skill you were learning while you were gone if you come back earlier than that long skill takes to finish.

I also have a mobile iPhone APP called: "DUSK", which connects to my EVE-Online account all the time so I can check skill progression anytime, and browse markets, etc, and it also warns me with a notification when a current skill is "Almost complete", so I know if i've been gone a long time and lost track, to make sure I login within the next 24 hours, to make sure a new skill is "queue'd up" behind the current one, so as to not lose any "learning" time.

Really good ships (for beginners) cost less than 100,000,000 Interstellar Kredits (ISKs), and I have over 600,000,000 ISKs at the moment... i'd be very happy to share that with you or anyone else playing EVE if we hung out ....and do some bounties, or hunt space-pirates, or even go space-mining together... safety in numbers, and all that.

I think Vendrin has played EVE for like 6 years or something... and still might actually play as well. If he has played that long continuously, his Capsuleer must be a God by now.

Yeah, Vendrin still plays, but he is like you said, God-like.

I have played along time ago and just cranked up my account again, but I don't even remember the controls so I am learning from ground zero.

My guy is Alexander Latanis and currently in a Merlin.

Galadorns avatar must be really small to ride inside a bird.

Or maybe birds have grown in the grim darkness of the future.

Space birds! Now that is good high sci fi.

New EVE-Online players:
One very big tip: If you ever spend real money on "PLEX"... the long standing rule is to NEVER transport your "PLEX" in-game item in any ship ever, even for one jump to a neighboring station or system. PLEX hunters are everywhere, with sensors that detect it in your cargo hold, who hang out near Space stations for crazy long times waiting for anyone to emerge with PLEX in their cargo, and 1 PLEX in-game is worth over 500,000,000 ISKs, or a real-time 1-month worth of play time. And they're not afraid of the interstellar Concord ("the space cops"). They will take you down, steal your PLEX before Concord shows up, and warp the fesk outta there 'lol'ing' all the way.
for shame!

I am in EVE. I would be interested in playing again. I have a character in Providence space in an alliance with access to null sec stations and stuff.

PM me if interested in teaming up. The group is not an RP group.
