I just bought a Dell inspiron 1520 for 2200AUD. It's got a nVidia Go 256 Mb 8600GT GPU (really good), 2 gigs of RAM (decent for Vista which comes preinstalled, excellent for XP if you intall that yourself later on), 160Gb 7200 rpm HD (Good), Bluetooth (good if you want to connect cell-phones and other gizmos to it), Wifi a/b/g/n connectivity (Good), 15.4" 1440*900 Glossy TFT screen (Good if you like the mirrorlike glossiness, otherwise not so good) etc.
If you want a review from me, you'll have to wait a few weeks, cause I just ordered it this saturday.

Otherwise, if you want a laptop like really now, or don't like Dell terribly much, I would reccomend the Toshiba's with nVidia 7600 GT graphics.
And don't forget to check
