An irc channel i was one had a guy on it who was at utøya when it happened, he typed in real time while hiding inside a closet with his laptop. Just outside the closet were dead bodies.., he then quit (ping timeout). He sms'd later when it was over, so he was ok, but that was pretty horrifying.

He put his guns down as soon as the cops arrived, and has plead guilty. He's getting the maximum penalty in norway which is 21 years in this place:

Wow, that is horrible. And 21 years? how is anyone supposed to fear the legal system when you get 21 years for killing and hurting as many kids as that.

Well, its not like he will be free when he gets out of prison. The guy is infamous, everyone in norway will treat him like a leper after he gets out. He'll never be free, even outside the walls.

Yeah, but I am pretty sure at some point he can leave and move out of Norway. In which case, he is then free again.

Actually it turns out there are laws that can be used to keep him in lockdown for life apparently. Hopefully that'll work out.

may be it's the america rubbing off on me, may be it's the fact that i have 0 respect for any process of law due to my upbringing... but the dude should be put in a room with some sets of pliers, blowtorches and bags of salt along with all the parents of the kids who died...
