* Within the basement of the Adventurer's Guild a cork wood board has been erected with a map of Waterdeep attached. Upon the map some notes and illustrations have been added. Beside the board are some notes left for the other Guild Members to see.*

Image

Found within the Goblin Casino where Plague Rats and Goblins fought as allies against the Adventurers that came upon them.

Image

Found within the Gur Camp after the massacre. It appears X was working to manipulate the Gur to be the enemies of the Guild.

Notes

X Missives have been found amoungst Goblins speaking of Tribute and Alliance.
Plague Rats and Goblins have been encountered fighting as allies against Adventurers.

Azalea Rosznar funds Homeless Shelter in Dock Wards.
Did she really?

Gur steal homeless shelter funds?

X Missives have been found amoungst the Gur that appear written in an effort to make the Gur enemies of the Adventurer's Guild.
The Gur had Plague Rats in their camp that fought against Adventurers during the Gur Camp Massacre.
Gur are known as Selune's Children and may have been useful allies against Lycanthropy Plague.
Gur massacred by Adventurers who were sent at them to reclaim stolen Rosznar funds.

Were the Gur set up and framed?

Pump Station #7 Altar of Talona inflicts Curse on Several who near it, and serves as Plague Rat strong hold.

Soup Kitchen in Dockwards serves soup that helps relieve Plague Rat illness.
Could the Church of Selune or the Staff of the Soup Kitchen know of a Cure?

Plague Rats use illness as a conscription method amoung Dock Ward poor.
Is the Homeless Shelter truly altruistic or is it a front for Plague Rat recruiting?

**a note is pinned to the Plague Board with a goblin dagger. Several bullet points are followed by assertions in Gaelan's handwriting**

  • The pickpockets who call themselves Plague Rats never seem to be well equipped.

  • They look humanoid.

  • They have tails.

Some speculations..

  • They may have been beggars before magic and/or disease transformed them to serve their new boss, voluntarily or involuntarily.

  • Mr. X may be this new boss.

  • Mr. X may be a follower of Talona.

  • Mr. X may have a territorial peace treaty with the Slimey Goblins

  • Mr. X may be trying to establish a criminal monopoly in the Dock Ward

Sincerely, Gaelan Finch, Apprentice Marksman, Scout, and Scholar for the Adventurer's Guild

*Another detail is added to the Cork Board annotating that Poison was intercepted from Plague Rats who had plans to pour it into the Dock Ward's Soup Kitchen's Soup. A small note is added to the growing file that the Staff was warned by Gaelen Finche, Birdsong, and Rako Ca'tra.*

*A note describes Angus, Gertrude, and Phylic.*

Unlike the staff of the Soup Kitchen who appear altruistic, dedicated, and capable of aiding those in need, the Staff of the Dock Ward Homeless Shelter have acted in a manner that raises suspicion. They directed the Adventurer's Guild towards the Gur Camp which ended in the massacre and invitations to the Shelter have been met by Plague Rats poised and ready to greet Adventurers, and last but not least the Homeless Shelter it's self seems like a less hygienic version of an insane asylum. This all maybe coincidence, but I advise all who interact with these three to do so with caution.

There were Riots in the Dock Ward and the Staff of the Homeless Shelter are now Dead.
Plague Rats were encountered inside the Shelter and slain, but not before they murdered Angus, Gertrude, and several of the homeless staying within the Shelter.

The only thing that appears to have spared Phylic from their blades was him taking his own knife to his throat.

Amoungst the effects recovered were some Documents that point towards Phylic having had nefarious dealings with some criminal organizations and the Homeless Shelter being nothing more then a means for him to misuse charitable donations to line his own coffers.

Who is the D who threatened Phylic?
A criminal rival of the Plague Rats?

How did the Riots start?

The Soup Kitchen was crowded during the riots and appeared untouched by Violence.
Is this because the People of the Docks respect and value the Kitchen enough to leave it unmarred by violence and seek shelter there in times of danger?

**a note is pinned to the Plague Board in simple handwriting**

Our mage, Gael Lynch, and I, Bjorn Ironside, made our way to the neighborhood of the riots to investigate the remaining evidence. To collaborate, we found that the soup kitchen remained untouched, but the streets around it were in a disarray. The homeless shelter was sacked. The scenes were that of a merciless slaughter. Every man woman and child was killed.

After examining this board and having spoken to my bunkmate, Gaelan Finch, we have come to believe that Phylic Ezri was caught between two criminal organizations vying for the same territory. The older organization may be connected to a noble family, known as the Roznars. Phylic Ezri had an illicit association with the Roznars; when the Plague Rats moved into the territory, Phylic Ezri's plot was jeapordized. For remaining loyal to Roznar's mafia, the Plague Rats butchered all in the shelter. This was meant as an example to all else in the Dock Ward. Gaelan has lent me some coin to rent a room near the Roznar's Villa.. I will keep an eye in persons movements in and out of the complex.

Tomas of the Soup Kitchen has made an effort to procure magical ropes of binding so those willing and capable may capture Plague Rats and bring them to the Soup kitchen for a chance of rehabilitation.

**Gaelan pins a note with a rusty old dagger to the Plague Board**

The path to the soup kitchen would require a strong force with a bound plague rat in tow. Either Bjorn or myself will be able to assist in getting this damned rat out of the Guildhouse as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Gaelan Finch

Post Scripture

Wyk, Gael, Gallen, and Bearkiller engaged in intense combat with Plague Rats at night, outside the Whispering Blade. There is an alleyway, which is concealed undercover of some magical darkness. Their numbers kept reappearing from this alleyway. And despite our success on the battlefield, we could not penetrate the alleyway. Gallen, the Dwarven Cleric, was succesful in capturing several Plague Rats and bringing them to Moonlight Kitchen.

Sincerely,

Gaelan Finch

Tacked to the cork board is a piece of parchment with this:

Talona and her followers are described as, "Let pain be as pleasure, for life and death are in balance, but death is the more powerful and should be paid proper homage and respect. Death is the true power, the great equalizer, and the lesson that waits for all. If it falls to you to drive home the point with the tip of a dagger, so be it. The Mother of All Plagues works upon you from within, and weakness and wasting is her strength. Talona's breath is forever and always with you, whomever you or the rest of the world believes in or serves. Let all living things learn respect from Talona and pay homage to her in goods and in fervent worship. If they do so, intercede for them so that Talona will not claim them—this time. Go and work in Talona's name and let your doings be subtle or spectacular, but make them known as the will of the Mistress of Disease."

There have been minor outbreaks of diseases within the city in the past. From comparing the infection and death rates to the past, the current outbreak seems worse, as if Talona herself has an eye on the City of Splendors due to some unknown reason. In the past, Kelemvor and Tyr followers helped track down those of Talona who were responsible, while devouts of Ilmater helped with cures. This time; however, seemingly no one or organization has come to assist.

A hastily written letter, pinned to the board:

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Are you senseless? Can’t you see what’s happening in the Docks? Do you not care?

I told you where to look. I showed you the key. I all but begged you to find the Plague Rat’s door, and help me find the part of the cure they keep from us. Have you found it? Have you even tried?

Pretend all you want that the Plague Rats and their Mother of Plagues are the source of the city’s suffering, of the spreading disease, but it’s a lie. It’s the indifference and apathy of people like you that’s allowed this to happen.

Close your eyes and cover your ears then. Preen and laugh and drink to your fortunes, and ignore the suffering and misery of the Forgotten of the Docks. Maybe when the tide of despair floods your own precious halls you’ll realize your folly.

I’m only glad Wren isn’t here to see the ruin of her house.
