OOC Cleanup

Post by ImStrokerAce »

This is a friendly reminder for all to please pick up after themselves when out and about; leaving remains behind contributes to lag for others!

The server is better than ever thanks to Ayergo's hard work but it's still not perfect so please take everything from the loot bag with you. No point putting additional load on the server. It's often up for weeks or months these days and the odd loot bag here and there adds up over time.

If you don't want the loot there are lots of trash bins around to dispose of it without creating problems. If some monster miles from home is making 15lbs of useless trash and you can't carry it all reasonable let us know.

Obviously if you are retreating from hostile territory and can't get your loot that's a whole other story. Don't risk your characters over server clean up. If it's really bad I'm happy to clean up after you.

[Edit]
Ayergo just confirmed in chat loot bags left around eat up lots of ram on the server so please clean up.

Do trash bins cause a lot of lag? Maybe also could put a few more of them around.

For instance...in the rat hills which IS actually a dump...would be good if there was a trash bin maybe next to the campfire or even deeper in...?

Thanks, mom!

[Note - I somehow accidentally edited Pazins post trying to quote it for the below joke reply. I don't know how to fix it so enjoy the joke all in one post - CNS]

*Licks thumb and uses it to clean smudge off Pazzin's face* Now go play with your friends and make sure your home for dinner.

I've added cleanup scripts to some areas that get rid of things on the ground when you leave an area.

If you find areas you think need that let me know and I'll get them in.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Ayergo that sets up another anti-IC situation though. If one person kills rats and leaves the tails, and another PC shows up later, picking up the rats is IC for them to trade with the City Watchpost though.

And what about the corpses of dead PCs? Do they get "cleaned up" (disappear) if someone enters and leaves the area the corpse is in?

People should earn their own kills. It really isn't that hard.

Nope, won't destroy corpses. Those are placeables.

This system has already been in place throughout the sewers, you just didn't notice. :)

Maybe the Dwarven Mines? Someone keeps leaving the bug parts all over the place.

I'll probably grab that script for DF. It gets pretty messy with all those TPK body parts flying all over.

Added cleanup script in these places. Let me know if others are needed.

Cleanup script should be added to Dungeon of the Crypt and Blackwell. The skellies drop lots of decayed and useless stuff that is very heavy.
