A Letter left with Vana in the Adventurer's Guild

If you are a guild member, Vana hands this letter to you upon your entering the Guildhall.

The writing looks as if it has been written by a shaking palsied hand.

My fellow adventurers,
I have been struck by a strange illness or magical curse that can only be related to our struggle with the Ice Maiden. Every time I try to summon magic from a device or item I must fight against an overwhelming cold in order to access the magic. This has often times resulted in the failure of the magic and a use of the item or charge. I was with Smokey and Cornelius and they did not suffer the same malady. Here is what I know from my experiments: It impacts all items except weapons or armor. So, Potions, Wands, Gloves, Boots etc. with enchantments failed if I couldn't fight thru the cold. The curse followed me anywhere, in the sewers, on the streets and in the guildhall. I tried to rest and to cast a minor protection of elements on myself to see if that would protect me. It did not. Be ware.
