While delivering a missive to Lieutenant Ken
A band of us were bullied by a Gnoll
Who expected us to pay a toll
So instead we stabbed him in the head

As it was this gnoll was part of a larger pack
And over the hills they came to attack
Through use of our blades, bows, and spell
The Gnolls one after another fell

Though the fighting was fierce
Through their ambush we did pierce

Our numbers while not many,
Nyx, Sudeiman, Belawyn, and Maddy
In the end our band proved ourselves plenty

I post this news not to swell any heads
Only in truth to warn of the dead
Because before we had arrived
The ambush the gnolls had devised
Caused some poor travelers demise.

The Long Road to Amphail is no place to walk without steel
It is a path beset upon my beasts who see you as a meal
They are hungry and words will not bring them to heel
Be wary of any offered deal

Keep eyes open and your head on a swivel
Or drip from Gnollish teeth as dirty drivel

Thanks to the sharp eyes of Maddy Leatherfeather
We have discovered where the Plague Rats gather!

South of the Slimey Warlock,
Hidden within tunnel block,
Exist secret passage
Where Plague Rats wait ready to ravage.

West of where the sewage drains to the dumps,
Carefully search the stonework for lumps.
With a careful push and pump,
Open the hidden door will jump.

These Rats of Plague
Our City they invade
Roaming the Dock
And attacking even the White Warlock

I suggest an effort be made together
Let us rise up to be the defender
Of our shared City of Splendor!

In the City Sewers beneath Virgin Square
We found several Sembians slain there.

It appears goblins slew them and left them to rot
After looting their corpses to add gold to their pot

Whooping and shouting the Goblins did dance
Until we came upon them in a lethal advance

Several Sembians we did avenge
Dror, Gael, Karn, and Maddy
With steel a gleaming delievered to the Goblins a beating.

Sarenna the Half-Elf Bard of Lhuvendhead Trading Company has lost her voice and has her back bent while her flesh provides host to many boils and blisters.

It is unknown if others of the expedition suffer similar plight.

It is unknown if those who have been afflicted, are or are not contagious.

So far potent prayers, magical potions, and powerful medicines have only served to temporarily relieve the symptoms of the illnesses described above. No treatment or effective cure has yet been discovered.

**Gaelan posts a note on the wall next to the keg by the bar**

I've given Bjorn Ironside, Half-Orc of Helm, a copy of the key to the Guild dormitory. It's getting rather cramped down there, but he completed several quests for the Guild.. and we need all the help we can get! Bjorn scouted the Northern, Sea, Castle, Southern and Trade Wards for signs of Plague Rat activity.

In the Southern Trade Ward, he found several common place thugs and a mysterious floating hand (which he claims.. "spoke in riddles"). He also claims the floating hand slapped him, after cornering the entity.. Floating hands aside, I think the Talonist cartel on crime is at a near monopoly in the Dock Ward, and that perhaps smaller gangs have been pushed out to more well-patrolled districts, along with the City Watch. I believe it would be prudent for the Adventurer's Guild to try and patrol the Dock Ward by day, when we are in sufficient number. This may alleviate some of the strain on the City Watch, cull the number of our opponents, limit the spread of the epidemic, and prevent the spread of the Talonist Cartel to the Southern Ward.

P.S. Birdsong informed me that Talonist magi have the ability to summon Rust Monsters. Be wary.

P.P.S. I've left some preserved bear meat in the pantry. Please have some before it spoils.

*A wine glass in hand Azoz casually leans on the wall while reading the note left by Gaelen...*

"Bjorn... member... blah blah blah...

...blah... blah

Please eat the preserved bear meat before it goes bad..."

*Azoz takes a long moment to consider that*

"Is he not doing a good job of preserving it?"

Riot in the Dock Ward

A Patrolman from the Waterdeep Watch entered the Adventurer's Guild seeking aid in stopping the riot in the Dock Ward where several members of the watch and rioters had been slain in the violence.

A band of Adventurers who were on hand moved out to insure the Soup Kitchen was secure and investigate the Homeless Shelter.

Roster
Rako Ca'tra
Steel Lewis
Gael Lynch
Sulrath Starshadow
Feronautos
Xandos Klaxxan

The Kitchen was found untouched by violence.

The Homeless Shelter was a slaughter house where Plague Rats had butchered all the occupants they could.

I would submit for honorable mention that the presence of Paladin Feronantous and Steel Lewis were capable of peaceful turning back the rioters we encountered. Thanks to them the streets of the Dock Wards were spared from additional bloodshed.

Sadly we found the corpse of the Warrior Chulo within the Dock Wards near an alley where it appears he was murdered by Plague Rats.

**A note pinned to the liquor cabinet with a flimsy goblin dagger**

After a conversation between myself, Gaelan Finch (Apprentice), Gael Lynch (Apprentice), and Dorian (Acting Guildmaster).. Dorian has agreed to begin promoting some apprentices to the position of Journeymen. This will require some ceremony. But, I am hopeful that after the ceremony, many apprentices will be granted voting authority.

Sincerely Yours,

Tarsakh 30th, 1400 Dale Reckoning

An invisible entity entered the Guild House and rifled through the chest near Vana's desk. I was unable to identify the entity and only was made aware of their presence by the sound of their foot falls and their pilfering of the chest. I do not know if anything of value was taken though nothing appears to be missing from the basement. When I verbally addressed this invisable individual, they fled.

No one was harmed, nothing of importance appears to be missing. I am posting this only as a record of aberrant activity.

Reading that last note Azoz mentions a very suspicious elf that matches the description of Elias whom he saw on the street nearby the adventurers guild - the elf twice turned himself invisible and may have been involved in an attack on the watch by Plague rats - quite possibly in league with them. He should be treated with great suspicion and caution.

Tomas of the Soup Kitchen has made an effort to procure magical ropes of binding so those willing and capable may capture Plague Rats and bring them to the Soup kitchen for a chance of rehabilitation.

Dear Guildmembers,

The Journeymen are considering promoting another Apprentice. I have nominated Elias. I believe Gael will back me in this nomination. The Guildhouse has many rooms available, at this point.

Red Larch was occupied by Bandits who appear to have been hired by X to draw Waterhavian forces away from the City. The Bandits and the Ogres in their employ were engaged by a band of Adventurers and driven from Red Larch. In the end the people of Red Larch were liberated from the occupying force of hired outlaws, although it is possible the Leader of the Bandits escaped during the chaos of battle.

Journeyman Gael Lynch represented the Adventurer's Guild.
The Dwarves Faenor Grok Brightblade and Galen fought bravely.
The Scout Tars Tarkas proved invaluable.

My Fellow Guild,

What are you doing for the good of your city today? They need your help. I propose a contest this tenday, with the prize of two trade bars to the winner, and Dorian our judge. Who among you will be of greatest service this tenday? Will you:

-Tend to the sick on the streets of the Docks?
-Make the needs of the vulnerable known to our good temples, and plead for their prayers and aid?
-Perform songs to boost the morale of a wounded city, and comfort the afflicted?
-Devote yourself to collecting reagents to serve the greater good?
-Prepare and strengthen your Guild brethren and yourself, for the trials of battle that lay ahead?
-Brew and enchant items that will aid Guild Members in our aims?

What will you do?

Every act matters my dear Guild. Your strivings and devotion to the adventurer's craft have value far beyond gold.

Yours in service,

Sarenna
