Rat hills difficulty

Post by ayergo »

Also, you can stand on top of the platforms and pyke the rats with a bow - pretty IC, but it's an overly easy 105 XP/day if that's not intended.
Wanted to break off this discussion from "bugs".

I think the XP rewards are going to taper off rapidly after level 1/2 . We have some level 3 chars who can test that, but this is mostly by design.

How are you guys finding the difficulty there? Looks like there has been some forays into the rat hills, but none in the cave quite yet.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Yeah .... I'm level 3 and it would be more like an easy 20 xp cranking rats all day. Only the dire rats give any XP at lvl 3 and turning in the bounty gives 1xp and 1 gp per item. So killing regular rats would result in a total of 1xp and 1 gp per kill (if every rat dropped a corpse item... which they don't)

As for pressing deeper:

The rats get swarmy in a hurry near the cave mouths. We haven't yet been able to keep enough party HP and magic after fighting outside the caves to reasonably justify a safe trip into the cave.

Maybe with 5-6 pcs or with everyone having another level under their belt ....

overall I say that's pretty well balanced for a challenge.

That is fantastic feedback, thanks. Hopefully means I can start focusing on new dungeons so that it will be done by the time you guys are the appropriate level.

Update:

Oops. At Lvl 3 the rat drop items give 2 gp and 2xp each. I misspoke above.
