(re: vampy remains, I forgot Kalas' player will not be regularly available friday nights; dealing with the remains will have to wait til another night when he is around, or Kalas will have to give the bones to someone else)

Aglaril leaves a simple message at the Salmon for Kalas, Lunette, and Aiden (and Arizma I suppose, I've no idea whether she's considered as having been present or not for the latter part of last night's session):

Some significant findings at the ruins last night; much light has been shed on recent events - a handful of significant questions still remain. Seek out Toby for details.

Other priorities may take me outside of Gwynneth in the coming days; proceed without looking for my return, though I will continue to aid if able to.

Lunette looks around King's Bay. With Aglaril going, the elf said that she might have a better shot at this heroing without his presence- (yeah right, she would be dead.) So, time to give a big speech.

"Rejoice men and women commoners of the moonshaes. We've brought peace and prosperity to our community with the death of Red the Lifesapper. We can now rest easy and not fear any Fog, cloud, or even squall!" She glances around idly. She glanced at the retreating ship. carrying away their strongest ally. "Yes now I know some of you might be a teeny bit concerned that the heroic party might be moving on now to greater pastures, but some of us are still around. Well- two of us at least." Well, Lunette was still around. Oh yes, and Tobias. "Don't worry I snagged a heroic wizard to help protect us too. He'll stick by me, I'm sure."

Ah that would be crowd pleasing. Always another light, and always another shadow cast... Selune and Shar, always battling before her. Still, you got to find somewhere to laugh about it.

Toby looks over at Lunette and shakes his head "Thanks for at least mentioning that i'm still here." he then chuckles a little and takes a deep breath. "We should head home, I still need to continue studying the remains we found, perhaps you want to help me with this research Lunette?"

((Toby would go ahead and use the spells, detect undead, detect thoughts, Identification, and detect magic on the red goo as well as use what knowledge on the matter he has, so he'll take 20 on whatever rolls are needed(39 on KA, 33 on KR) , Perhaps OT would do the same?))

People look at the Talkative hin a bit strangely and with some concern, as she makes her speech amid the pouring rain. Whispers of dread run through the crowd at the mention of wizard and a few even make warding signs. No one looks particularly pleased, as some mumble and look to the sky. A voice from the crowd Shouts " The weather has done nothing but get worse since them adventuring types been meddling around here!" , another voice shouts " Mebbe its that wizard thats been bringing them nightmares on us all the last few nights!"The speakers cannot be located and ripples of anger and unrest filter through the crowd before they disperse.

"Okay, so maybe I need to think this through..." Lunette was quite crestfallen that the crowd turned nasty. Course that was to be expected in the moonshaes. Or the mainlands. Or the far off elf haven. Actually, was there anywhere on faerun that might be welcoming to a selunite halfling? 'Don't think about it, you'll just get Shar in your head.' She thought to herself. 'Come on you got to be bigger then this, think universal...'

Lunette quietly made her way to the house she shares with Toby. "Okay so let's see, after Toby gave me his big ol' rod I now have magical powers and a cat. Well there are worse origin stories," she mused as she talked to herself. "If I now have some real magic, I'm going to divine the hell out of the goddess spirit of this land!" She started to shuffle the Talis deck, picturing the moon goddess looking at the Earthmother, with the little hin between them. A crack of thunder outside and heavy rain added to the atmosphere. She drew a pentagram on the table etched in black ink.

"Moon Goddess Selune, Hear my prayer! I am lost and know not what our next course of action is to be. Divine unto me the Plight of this Land, and Reveal the Truth of the Enemy we Face!"

Dramatically she placed the cards down in pentagram star shape, with one card in the middle. Carefully she lifted the top most.

1) The ten of wands....

She paused for a moment to contemplate the meaning of it... and for some reason, thought of Aglaril. "The power of Ten magics... a burden. We accomplished our task yet we are still burdened in our journey. Something we carry weights us... so heavy... we journey on... drifting down to..." she traced her finger delicately to the bottom left, never taking her hand off the trace of ink even as it smudged.

2) The Moon...

She gave a smile. That had to mean Selune had heard her. Or was.. Aglaril looking at the moon? Or this could mean a moonrise, a gentle glow as the sun faded away. The night... Was this a warning? Something comes at night... A chase... She again raised her hand following the pentagram to the top right. "Tell me what we encounter..."

3) Three of pentacles.

Again Lunette stared at it, not sure. "A new co-operative is forming... something under the light of the moon. A new ally? Someone important... we will make a friend with someone important and mysterious... Oh selune why must you be so mysterious," she gave a soft smile. "Very well, so we meet this person... or group... then what happens..." she traced her finger to the left most point...

4) The Lovers

Lunette gave a giggle but it came with a sudden depressing seriousness. "Blessings in disguise.. in darkness we find light. Something is not what it seems. The elements are on this one... Air and Water..." She thought of the Earth mother and selune, Sky and Land.. but where do they meet, but at the furthest horizon... or upon a shore. 'The shores are the key...' she thinks to herself. "That is where the Earthmother touches another body..."She then traced her hand to the final card at the bottom right.

5) Page of Cups...

"Heh, I guess we'll find a message in a bottle on the shores?" that seemed oddly specific of a message. Still, if that's what Selune wanted her to do... she hoped she was doing this right. "It could mean an ally is trying to get a message to us... but is being blocked somehow. Maybe they are distressed or unwilling to help... but this person could be the key to resolving the situation..."

Lunette completes the pentagram back to the top. However there was one final card at the center of the board. "Tell me the card Selune, that binds this cycle... tell me what I must be aware of at this moment in time, and be aware throughout this trial..."

Destiny card: Strength.

Lunette sighed. "Well duh, I knew that. Have to be strong... be strong as I can be, even if I don't even feel all that strong. Thanks for the guidance Selune, I guess we'll check the shores for weird messages. Maybe sailors have seen something weird..."

Aglaril's brows knit in concentration, while his mind worked... images... words... sounds... colors ... even smells forming and held aloft as it were, in his imagination.

Facio, Voco, Ferre!

The first syllables were intoned, followed by others to flesh out the spell, accompanied by gestures of his left hand and arm - the painstakingly intricate movements that were so precise as to be near impossible to manage in heavy armor. A brief pause, then more syllables followed for a second, then a third spell, each with their own unique gestures.

Praeses, Alia, Fero...!

Veritas, Credo, Oculos...!

Some time later Aglaril stood back to review his work. An unseen force held aloft a dozen or so small objects in mid air before him - rather imperfect representations of various things: faces, creatures, symbols, words, phrases - visual representations for the most part, though a few seemed to emit a crude, distant sounding hum at low volume and similar audible cues. There was a single clear object in the center of them all - a smooth black stone about the size of a hen's egg - that, unlike the rest of the objects, seemed as real as the actual thing it represented.

"... 12 discord stones... laced with silver dust and bones... 12 disks upon the floor... cursed forevermore...

Aglaril motioned with his hands, flicking a finger here and there, as the small objected moved to and fro and rearranged themselves before him.

"... dead man in red... throbbing pain in head... we released the cursed... yet same problem as at first..."

Several more objects are rearranged, this time more slowly; at the center of it all the illusionary black stone remained unmoving. With a wave of his arm sideways, Aglaril formed a straight line from one object, to another, then to another, visually connecting them.

"... destroy the stone... or cast it afar... auras unknown... casket remains ajar!"

Aglaril's arms, hands, and fingers worked swiftly once more, several more objects switching places quickly one way, then another, then another, then again rearranged. More lines formed to visually connect various objects, some to the black stone in the middle itself, only to be erased and reconnected elsewhere. Some time passed, with a single bead of sweat running down the Elf's bronze forehead, brows knit furiously in concentration, his mutterings coming forth faster and faster.

"... find a volcano, bag of holding... burst the thing... dimensional folding! A dead god's temple, weather worsens... Kelemvor's acolyte, few missing persons! Murkul's priest, vampire staked! The Red Mist beaten, it's plan still hidden! Acid bath! Dissolve the bones! Lead box dampens but too much unknown!!"

"Ah, Seldarine..."

Aglaril rubbed his temples hard, shaking his head, then cupped his chin in his left palm, right hand supporting his left arm at the elbow.

After standing still a while with his eyes closed, the Elf reset the entire thing with a single sweeping movement of both arms, then began anew.

"I'm a fraud, a fake. I parade myself as something, given space to show my true nature to myself as well as others, but I am simply a shadow to the bright lights of real heroes." Being nothing was nothing new to her. Most dismissed or ignored her wild ideas. The cosmos was far more interesting to her as a result then people. Stars would always be there...

Lunette watched the horizon off the peer on kingsbay lamenting her life on these islands. The disappointed look of Aglaril haunted her. They wanted to help her use her power and that was a completely normal thing... But hers was the power of sorcery. Chaotic and without the ability to harness by book or scrolls. It was a wild talent and not under much control, subject to whims of desire.

"It's not my fault. I didn't have the means to learn magic. I'm a hin for one, and magic is subtly frowned upon. The humans in the moonshaes hate magic, and would never teach a hin such arts." Heck she did pretty well with the rogue arts anyway... Magic was a bonus. She couldn't learn magic she just couldn't.

But the reality of this was that it didn't make her a real wizard. She just didn't have the inclination to study the years it would take either. "Then again wizards seem to be getting younger and younger these days... They probably were born with a silver wand in their hand"

She resented feeling so useless. But there was that book. If she could learn one trick from it... She could do some real magic, right? Alas to a hin, one always wanted to be useful to community... But she wasn't sure she could take any more nightmares either. Each image breaking her mind to the core

... And all this she kept hidden. Not even by trying

"Hello. I wish to personally thank all you heroes for saving me from that evil book. I don't know what I would have ended up as with its magic clawing its way into my mind, and fortunately I need never know." Lunette gives a thankful smile and a formal bow. Still, it wouldn't curtail her interest in magic. She would just have to not get it from a book looted in cursed ruins next time.

Aglaril could not help but smile a little as he looked over the letter once more. The Espruar script wasn't quite as flowing and elegant as it could have been certainly (and the phrasing was a little awkward in spots), but it was clear that with small hands and short, nimble fingers the the writer had given sincere effort.

"In spite of your shortcomings, your heart is likely nobler ... than mine was when I was in your shoes little maiden," the Elf murmured quietly to himself. "Don't give up; all fall short from time to time... don't be silly and give in to the fear of asking for help."

Aglaril folded the letter and placed it in his scroll case, before venturing back out under a star lit night sky.

((letter is unrelated to the previous post, for clarification))
