A Land Far Away

A halfling in Corwell has been asking local elders, priests, and people of knoweldge about the appropriate means of burying a fallen elf.

"I mean ....should I stick 'im in the ground or have 'im cremated? Hells, I dinna know. He were a sailor an' all. Mayhap I should put 'im unner at sea?"

Contrary to his normally coarse and hardened demeanor, this day the halfling seems subdued and morose.


"Closest I had te a friend outside the 'Deep. Had my back more'n most, that fer sure. I sorry fer ye gittin' dead, Arilis. Now yer cold an' layin' in a temple o Tyr? That jess ainna right fer ye, friend. I'll make it right."

OOC: Hully will be looking to perform some kind of appropriate ritual depending on what is learned. If other players are interested in being present for a service of some sort I would be happy to have a small event.

when are you doing this? Elenaril has been staying in Corwell for some time now, and no doubt would catch wind of this.

The body of Arilis has been placed in repose and lies in the druid grove outside of Corwell.

In the interim, Hulurin tosscobble has sought the Loremaster of Caer Corwell within the Queen's Court seeking information regarding a place called "Alaron".

Eulogy for a fallen sailor:

Ye sailed the sea by ocean’s light,
Around the isles through restless night.
Yer course and luck did make it right
Te see things new in strange delight.
The seas were harsh and took their toll
With branded flesh and tortured soul,
And when at last the sun sat low
It touched the earth with blood red glow.

Silver breakers plight our trough
To sails unfurled and winds aloft.
Yer spirit soars on breezes free
That bear the soul of sailor ye.
Hear this prayer Oh Elven Gods.
He lived life full by blade and rod.
Though wretches we and racked with flaws,
We are the ones who fought the cause.


He lived and died for life’s bold hand
To hold and cherish this, his land.
A sailor's death on ships of sleep
With few to know and none to weep.
And when the end has come at last
And unfilled shadows heaven casts,
Remember he who lived and fell
And to the hosts of Faerun tell,
Bear home this elf who loved so well.

If asked to offer up a few words for the occasion, Scisha responds in her usual tone with "He was rather tolerable...for an elf."

An odd group of individuals was seen travelling the King's Road, making for the Kingbay's docks. A halfling, an elf, a dog, two bears, and a human strumming made a chevron alongside a small cart bearing the body of Arilis "Silver Winds".

The group is said to have taken ship to Alaron with plans to find elven lands on that isle's interior.
