Lady Tha'is put on a spectalcular show in the twisted Sail inn. People from all over turned up, including the North, and lowhill.

The crowd was so full that the guard expressed concern and cautioned the owner not to let that many enter in one go.

Word comes in from Cantrev Pontswain about a "monster" ranging out from the salt flats. It is hard to get a detailed description but "large", "hulking", "stinks like a swamp" are the most used descriptions.

A number of sheep have also gone missing in recent days.

By incredible feats of daring, including diving off a cliff, and risking life and limb, three adventurers manage to capture and detain... a very special thief.

... Nor was it just any thief... one that eventually spilled to be a member of the "broken Ring."

Tha'is, Zova, Fumir, and Argos are named as these people who accomplished the feat, With zova Fumir and Argos in particular being highly famed for their sudden dive of the cliff to go after him, even naming his ship as the 'pudgy elf'.

It would seem they have exposed at least one ship in their operations to the guard...

Work on a new house upon the 'cursed site' has started.

It has been besieged by strange events. One worker killed in a bizarre accident, accidentally impaling himself on one of the beams.

However the outer building work has been completed, with just the inner rooms needing to be done.

It is claimed that a witch has cursed the town of corwell in some way...

A lot of strange accidents have happened.

There is a red haze in the air, though was washed by rain.

Some commoners are frightened and just fled the town...

At the Gibed Sail in Skaug, a rather unlikely figure is seen sitting and brooding with a bottle of the establishment's strongest wine open before him: a golden haired and bronze skinned Elf. Patrons note that he had been sitting there, barely moving, for the entire night, ignoring glances, snickers, pointing fingers and gruff trashtalk from pirates.

"Farking Lewyrr crawling out of the woodwork, probably sleepin' with 'is eyes open like they say, bugger unnatural!"

"I says I can swipe 'is pretty knickers off o' 'im without 'im or ye salty bastards knowin'!"

"And I says I bloddy 'is nose and take 'is fancy kit and purse as soon as ye sneeze!"

There's talk that a large pirate approached the Elf rather menacingly at one point, and that the Elf finally looked up from his brooding at the man. His glance, though calm, had something of an edge to it.

"If it's a fight you seek," the Elf reportedly said calmly. "You could not possibly choose a finer way to improve my mood."

For whatever reason, the tavern seems to have been rather peaceful and trouble free... so far.

NEWS FROM ALARON:

An earthquake tremor lasting only a few minutes was felt near Caer Calidyrr. It caused a slight rise in the tides, but no tidal waves were produced. Sea captains report of a newly active volcano in the seas just east of the city between the coast and the island of Mintarn, scholars believe that is is part of an active chain of volcanoes that links the Moonshea Islands, the island of Mintarn, the Korinn Archipelago, and the Whalebones islands to the north. There has not been any large explosion from the volcano, but sea captains claim that the lava and smoke oozing from the various openings in the ground can be seen on the horizon to the east just as they leave port

A lone Elf (often mistaken for one of the Isle's own Llewyrr) has been seen traveling to various individual isles, spending some coin at the busiest taverns and similar locales in search of those who might be able to provide news and information about local customs.

Both in Iron Keep and Hammerstad, it is rumored that he sought to enter the halls of the lords of the respective settlements, and offered the services of his blade and skill in exchange mainly for information and lore.

Some in Hammerstad speak of the Elf leaving a rather grim gift either outside the Halls or at the feet of the King Ragnar.

Some days later, a similar trophy is offered as a gift to the King Thelgarr Ironhand of Ironkeep as well.

On Skaug they just call it "The Swarm". Every 13 years, or maybe every 17 years... Skaug isn't so strong is keeping historical records... a massive eruption of insects occurs deep in the jungle.

Locals name the big creatures "Stone horn beetles", known to have pincers so sharp as to be able to cut a man in two with a single bite.

Woe to anyone unlucky enough to be caught out in the wilds when the swarm erupts or foolish enough to take up the offer of the known-to-be-at-least-slightly-crazed wizard in the Skaug tower who will pay 100 gold coins for a largely intact stag carapace.

"I were here in '74 ... or was it '71 ... shite I don't recollect ... when some of 'em wandered right into the city gates and cut apart 3 Maliceprow men before they could shut the walls" , said an old salt at The Crossbow. "Mean as vipers and strong as horses they were!"

The guards at Skaug Isle's inland gate will reluctantly open the gates for passage with a "See you again .... never."

(( multiple encounters of varying CR set. Even smaller size stag beetles are known to pack a punch so a party of multiple mid-lvls would be smartest))
