Ventrilo Server

I rented a Ventrilo server for us to share. Think of it as a lounge where you can come and chat with ALFAns, not unlike the IRC channel that runs, except of course it is a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) rather than text medium (although you can also do text there as well). Ventrilo is pretty much standard (along with Teamspeak) as the virtual gathering that most modern gaming communities use to interact. Voice communication is quicker and less ambiguous than text, and adds a level of closeness. There are a number of rooms in there where you can separate and have smaller groupings of people (I will rename the rooms tonight). You also can just listen if that's how you're most comfortable. It has a text-to-voice feature where you can type and the words are "spoken" for others to hear. Things to do while you're there:
Meet the people in the community. Learn about the players as people.
Do all of the out of game coordination (when and where to meet next)
Have administrative meetings
Have all-hands meetings
Collaborate on building
Work out problems (DM / Player / administrative investigations and problem resolution)
Group as DMs to cooperate on a quest
go to private rooms as adventuring parties to handle all OOC communication
Talk / work through technical issues (installing, debugging, etc)
I really think this could go a long way to bringing the community together. Looking forward to chatting with you all.
