Rumple and Cyb0r

Post by Rumple C »

I am tired of porting to people as a DM, and finding them in the midst of a sexual frenzy. I have no wish to see your bizarre fantasies. I burned out last time because of this issue, and it has already struck again within my first few days on BG.

If I am logged on as a dm and you wish to Cyb0r by yourself, with another person, or placable, please...

Send me a tell saying "Don't port to us please, it's adult time"

If you have a fantasy you wish to share with another man or woman, great. Would be better to do it in real life, but great. However, please start doing it in a way that means it never gets shared with me.

Thankyou, come again.

You're mistaken I was just giving Herro's dude a proctology exam because he felt a lump there.
That's all it was. Don't you judge us!

Clearly a dark day for everyone with ranks in heal. Now all of the exhibitionists will need pelvic exams every second day.

But a couple actual suggestions, to try to keep everyone happy--
#dm, instead of /tell, so it never gets lost in spam?
If you're having some private time and a DM logs in, switch to tells? (I'd bet there's more than one DM who would rather not see the details; generally safer to assume that nobody wants to see your fictional bits unless they ask)

pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

Clearly 69 is the number of xps to award.

All of my PCs are asexual. I save sexy time for RL and leave D&D time for hacking, slashing, and taverning.

Feel free to jump in with me at any time :)

Sounds like the perfect time to have enemies attack. Seen people cybering in the wilds of MS. If no one else had been on I would have dumped a horde of orcs on them. Instead I just DMed someone else.

Though it's easy to avoid. Know that X cybers? Don't port to them when they're in a tavern or housing. And if they're cybering elsewhere? Spawn stuff.

Dang Rumple... just dang. You get all the luck ;)

I understand though. Can make it hard, er, difficult to continue DMing. I would do the courtesy you ask, and do you one better. Should I ever engage again, I'll check for a DM, and alert them to freak flag flying so as to let them have jollies or avoid them as desired. I shouldn't worry about it though with me, an off colored joke is as close as I've come in since Ox disappeared. No frequent flyer miles for me.

V.S.

PS, sad isn't it? Perhaps we should have such an item, as the freak flag. Could take the form of a colored hanger, or sock on a doorknob. :)
I doubt, therefore; I might be
Calil - Elf maid depicted in profile picture.
Bellie - Small woman from Lowhill with big attitude - see below

I second the OP...

I've encountered this very often, and it never encouraged me to work with the characters as a DM. I think it's okay as a spice to RP, but it shouldn't be the only source of drama.

While in theory it's a nice argument that what happens in private RP between players doesn't have to interfere with DMd stories, I never could compartmentalize. It's hard to unsee a character as a porn actor/actress, and go back to thinking about writing him/her into a fantasy adventure story. Just couldn't shake the feeling of being relegated to providing the background to a fantasy-themed p0rn. While it's kinda silly to use the phrase "take the character seriously" in a sword&sorcery fantasy story, I do think the principle applies.

Isn't that kind of like saying "Sorry, I can't take the judge seriously, I know she has sex."

Also characters have sex in sci-fi/fantasy books all the time.

Characters in literary fiction have graphic sex all the time, too. Get into modernist literature and a good many of them add pictures for good measure-- and there's some big names in there. Gotta claim that you can't take Chaucer seriously because a lady gets a graphic fingering in the Miller's tale. 's all background for porn now.

Thing about books and such is, I can choose to read certain books or not; I can even choose to skip over certain passages and read the rest of the book. I can also stay away from shops that specialize in certain kinds of books (though that's getting harder these days...) Not saying yea or nay, good or bad, just saying it's an option.

Similarly, DMs have every right to stay out of a 10 foot pole's reach of whatever is going on, whether it's harmless PG13 rating smooching or stuff that is gratuitously disturbing.

For better or for worse, we don't have an editor for the 'published' content of our RP, so you have a mix of content that tries (emphasis on try) to be everything from Tolkien to Vonnegut to whatever material is sold at the local leather/bondage/fetish/fish store in downtown LA or such. People shouldn't be viewed as 'prude' or whatever for saying 'no thanks, not interested in being subjected to the latter'. :|
