Anyone playing ALFA as a PW right now?
What are the numbers like weekly (daily? dare I dream?) of ALFA players online but not actively into a weekly "session" lately?

Last week it really picked up (was pretty dead before outside of zelks campaign session).
Had 8 folks on bg at one point. Plenty of fresh faced pc's.

Ive seen 0, 0, 0, and 0 on whenever I checked. Must not be checking at the right times, I guess.
Occasionally Ill see a 0, 0, 1, 0. Poor orangetree...no one playing in the same timezone.

I am often on and try my best to keep viewing ALFA as a PW

Whenever I say hello on IRC, I'm usually on Heero
I'm not sure what the question is asking. Do numbers reflect that the world is being played as a persistant world? Player numbers and the 'persistence factor' are two very different things.
I treat the world as persistent, but have been 'encouraged' that this is probably not the best way to play it. On my timezone, there are no active factions to join, nothing a player can do to 'affect' the world, let alone create a lasting change. I know that wasn't always the case, but I have only seen two examples of a permanent structure made by player driven events (and luck.) Most PCs don't last long enough to achieve anything on that scale. Even if they did survive that long, they would not make anything permanent. Improvisational DM events can change this, but when I DMed few really logged on anyway, and the majority didn't want to be DMed- ironically because they were tied into campaigns that would mess them up.
Given all this, it's not really possible to treat any of the servers as persistant, other then that they are online and available most of the time to join in to.

When stephen left, I lost Zyrus' main DM as he was the only one who did high level play weekly. As of now, I plan to restart my Trade War campaign on WHL once I can figure out a time for it, but this would mean likely removing myself from zelks campaign.
First Character: Zyrus Meynolt, the serene Water Genasi berserker. "I am the embodiment of the oceans; serene until you summon the storm." Zyrus: http://tinyurl.com/9emdbnd
Second Character: Damien Collins, the atypical druid. "What? Being a stick in the mud is boring. No pun intended grins"

There's been a rather-abrupt uptick in U.S. evenings this week. Saw several consecutive days with a half dozen on BG.
Otherwise there's about 25 people making regular-ish (that is, less than a month between visits) logins still, and about 35 who've been on this last month. Not dead, but about half of where we were six months ago, so I'd suggest sending PMs to people to coordinate play. Gonna be tough to just bump into people in your time zone.

I do not always play ALFA, but when I do....I play it as a PW.
I have been a ghost due to RL picking up, but I can make an effort to log in once or twice a week.

I logged in, with intention of coming back as I can. There was a half a dozen on then and consistently most of the night, without a dm.
I never dreamed of playing ALFA as anything but a persistent world, with time moving on without me. I always make sure I have an IC explanation ready for my absence, so I don't beak RP if asked.

I doubt, therefore; I might be

RL has me as well; I've occasionally peaked at the servers and checked forums in the past few weeks but haven't had much of a chance to do anything unfortunately.
Might be fun someday if some higher lvls are still around to go exploring say, the depths of BG ala true PW style as a group (with or more likely without DM presence).
Someday...
Tempting to consider rolling a lowbie for something like Zelk's game (she's a rather awesome DM, people should be flocking to it)... also had dreams of a very story/character driven/sparse combat take at DMing on TSM again, but alas, it's all a distant dream atm.

Greetings HEEGZ and everyone else.
So... what's the current state of affairs 'round ere (other than slow as far as PWishness and such)? Any campaigns besides Zelk's going on?

Word on the street is there might be one starting on bg -very- soon

Re: Anyone playing ALFA as a PW right now?
I'm beginning a law vs. chaos themed campaign on BG Friday or Saturday nights, US evenings. It's geared for the new PCs that just rolled up, but broad enough in scope to include active PCs on BG was I introduce the plot.
Re: Anyone playing ALFA as a PW right now?
Tech plus SSM were planning on gathering on Thursdays. We're still hammering out the details, and there's no DM, but those would probably be Aglaril's peers by the existing scope of ALFA (plus the Sharess wizard, who we will carefully craft into a peer).Ithildur wrote:So... what's the current state of affairs 'round ere (other than slow as far as PWishness and such)?
