A Land Far Away

Yesterday was a typical ALFA day for me.

Work slowed down around 3pm (US eastern time) so I was able to log on. I spent a couple of hours with the server to myself.... killed a couple orcs.... walked the road a bit . Not only did I have the server to myself. I had ALL the servers to myself for the bulk of time. 1 player .... 4 servers.

At about 6:30 another player logged in to TSM. We did a static, had some nice RP and tavern chatted for a couple of hours. I had 6 hours essentially free and clear to game uniterrupted by RL from midafternoon until my wife got back from her evening engagement at about 9:30.


When I heard her come in I went afk. We talked and eventually around 10 pm I got back to the keyboard to log off. And that's when 2 DMs are on and now there are 10 people. Now the campaigns start.


When I wake up in the morning I get to read the IC posts about the events that happened while I slept. I sigh sadly, log in ... and again have all 4 servers to myself.


What I want .... need really .... is some regular gaming occurring during the US late afternoon/ early evening. From 2008-2011 there were tons of DMs and players in this time slot. All that Wynna, JLM, Trid loving fit perfectly into my schedule above. On rare occasion I could start a Ronan game, but now even that rare late night is gone from my life.




Is this a hopeless wish? Arew there ALFAns who want to try to game during these times for US east "happy hour" / euro night? Or am I just stuck (mostly) alone most days for the forseeable future?

We've got a little something going on MS once a week (usually Tuesdays).
Euro-time 9pm GMT+1, which might translate to something like 4pm your time.

We are currently 3-4 regular players + a dm.
Levels 1-5.

That's my time slot as well Dergon... I've seen your PC on but didn't know it was you, I'll pop in to TSM with Olin next time I see you and I'm free. I've been focused on other things of late

I tried to get a time slot open on WHL for your time, but none of you could scheduler with Ith so it fell to the wayside. If you want me to get a slot open again, find me some players for WHL, probably Euro based.

Interestingly enough there's been some talk about putting a resource/tools to faciliate player scheduling from our forums. I really think some more people would be getting in game (including DMs) more often and regularly if better organization/scheduling/communication were happening. Paired with some possible new content that may be going in (TSM replacement travel map, MS sounds like they're actively looking to get content in, some stuff on BG possibly), and some new DM plots (as well as ad hoc) in the works, I firmly believe the ebb and flow of player activity/inactivity can improve

If you want to move your dorf over to BG temporarily, I have developed a series of quests centered around Stephen's PC, Blacke. Last I heard he had worked together a crew and was going to start up with maybe HEEGz, but I haven't seen them logging in, and we have only run one, set up session. I think Stephen, at least, is looking for an earlier time.

I started coming up with the quests as an aside to whatever that group and DM might be doing, but I also planned to work in some things for the other players that might join in. As long as RL work stays steady, which might change a bit in April and May, I should be able to DM earlier around those times on saturdays. You might have to move Hully over to another server to play your dwarf on BG, but I dont think that is against the rules, is it? I think your dwarf would be very interested in these quests.

If you guys want to get together and let me know when you are interested, I will let you know what kind of schedule I have.

Thanks to Ith on the DM side and all the TSM players who got in game early last night. It was great fun.

If it takes whining in the forums to get what I want then ... I guess I'll keep on whining.
